Dear NYCHA Residents:
As New York City continues to recover from Hurricane Sandy, NYCHA is working to ensure the safety of our residents and our buildings. NYCHA staff remains in the field checking boiler, electrical and elevator systems; working with Con Edison, LIPA and National Grid to assess steam and gas lines; and providing vital assistance to residents who live in developments affected by the storm, such as food and water.
At this time, we are only addressing critical maintenance and repairs. This will allow us to resume services in Zone A and other affected areas as soon as possible. Once building systems are restored, we will focus on routine maintenance efforts.
We expect to resume regular scheduling of maintenance and repair appointments on Monday, November 5 - except for the developments affected by Hurricane Sandy. We ask for your patience during this time as we focus our resources to address these critical issues. We will provide more updates as they become available. If you have emergency maintenance and repair issues, please call the NYCHA Customer Contact Center at 718-707-7771.
For updates on when building services are operational, you can:
Thank you for your cooperation, and thank you to all of our resident leaders and everyone throughout City government who is helping to ensure the safety of NYCHA residents from the effects of Hurricane Sandy.
Sincerely,
Cecil House
