Fall 2013 Newsletter

We would like to thank everyone who attended our 2013 event, An Evening for Entrepreneurship, at the Soho House on October 7th. It was a great success and a pleasure to see all the NYPACE volunteers, partners, supporters and entrepreneurs discussing how to improve the small business environment in New York City. Over 140 people attended a fun-filled evening in support of NYPACE. Thank you to our corporate sponsors listed below for their generous support!

We would also like to extend a warm thank you to all of the individual supporters of NYPACE whose generous contributions are vital in helping us execute our mission.  In addition to the terrific turn-out from NYPACE volunteers and supporters, several NYPACE entrepreneurs attended in person and were kind enough to share their stories, including:

  • Lupe Moreno of Harlem Lady Real Estate, who completed a project with NYPACE during which she secured a storefront for her business which enabled her to hire three agents.
  • Joy Hibbert of Love Joy Sweet Treats, who is currently working with NYPACE to grow sales and increase brand awareness.  Thank you Joy for baking excellent sweets for the event!
  • Yvonne Stafford of the Natural Living Institute, who is currently working with NYPACE to create a business plan for her company which is focused on promoting healthy living.
  • Gingie McLeod of Dindi Design, who is wrapping up a project with NYPACE. Gingie donated a fashion consultation to the silent auction and participated in a live fireside chat with one of NYPACE's dedicated members, Jeff Smith.
  • Sarah & Chris Romulo of CROM Martial Training, who completed a project with NYPACE through which they found a new location for their business and received help with budgeting, pricing structure, and promotions.  The Romulo's donated sessions at their facility to the silent auction.
  • Kenya Murray of Like A Celebrity, who just launched a project with NYPACE to create a marketing strategy as well as a pricing plan and commission structure.
As is tradition at the annual NYPACE fundraising event, we debuted two new "I Love My Boss" episodes in the series, featuring Lupe Moreno of Harlem Lady Real Estate, and Sarah & Chris Romulo of CROM Martial Training.  A special thanks to Taj Lewis of Filmsabotaj, the producer of the videos.  Please view the videos on our website:
The success of this fundraising event is integral to the continued growth of NYPACE as we expand the number of small business entrepreneurs we assist each year. If you have expressed interest in volunteering for NYPACE, you will be hearing from us in the coming weeks as we launch several new advisory projects.  If you would like to get involved and did not sign up at the event, please click this link for our online Advisor Profile Form:

Volunteer Opportunities

NYPACE is always looking for passionate volunteers who are interested in joining one of its leadership committees. Currently, NYPACE has openings available for:

Project Quality Assurance & Training Committee (PQT): oversight of active NYPACE projects. PQT members are assigned to projects and work with NYPACE staff and volunteers to address project issues when they arise, ensuring effective project management and, ultimately, project success. The ideal candidate has worked on a few projects as both an advisor as well as a captain of a project.

Advisor Recruiting Committee (ARC): responsible for generating and maintaining our pipeline of volunteer advisors. This committee develops contacts at major investment banks, consulting firms, private equity firms, accounting firms and marketing/advertising firms.

Entrepreneur Sourcing Committee (ERC): responsible for cultivating relationships with various community development and micro-lending organizations in New York City. This committee screens and prepares potential entrepreneurs for NYPACE projects.

And, of course, we are continually looking for new advisors to work with entrepreneurs.

Those interested should email NYPACE and/or check out our website here!
