Letter from the President

Eric Bacon

As I write my monthly message, I am excited with the realization that the Annual Conference is less than a week away! As I shared last month, the conference committee and staff have worked hard to put together a fantastic event. It should be an excellent learning opportunity as well as a lot of fun. I hope you can join us.

One of the items that will be discussed at this year's conference involves the updating of our Constitution, By-laws and Manual of Procedures. During the tenure of the 2015-16 Executive Board, the board charged the Constitution & By-laws Committee with reviewing and updating each of these documents. For the last three years, the committee has been working tirelessly on this project and as a result of their work has developed an Operations Manual that consists of an Executive Board Manual and a State Office Operations Manual. The Executive Board Manual is divided into four sections: the Constitution, By-laws, Policies and Procedures and Appendices. As a result of their work, a draft copy was presented at the February 22, 2018 Executive Board meeting and a draft copy was approved for consideration by the membership.

With an approved draft in place, the committee will now provide a copy of the document to the membership for their review and input. This is an important part of the process before a final draft is voted on for consideration by membership. If he hasn't already, committee chairman Gregg Goodman will be sending something out shortly that outlines these opportunities and an anticipated timeline of an approval process. I do know for sure that this topic will be covered in depth at the Annual Meeting during the conference and I would invite you to attend if you would like any additional information or have any questions.

I realize that this isn't one of the "sexiest" NYSRPS projects that the Society has undertaken, but it is very important and something that needed to be accomplished as it serves as the foundation for our organization. I would encourage you to find the time to review the documents and ask any questions you may have.
Finally, to Gregg Goodman and his committee, I would like to offer a big "Thank you" for all your efforts that went into this. I know the time, effort and energy that went into this project. It does not go unrecognized and is appreciated.

Sincerely,

Eric Bacon, MS, CPRE, CPRP
