Out of my distress I called on the  Lord;
the  Lord  answered me and set me in a broad place.
With the Lord on my side I do not fear.
Psalm 118:5-6a
Dear families,

Simply put, the events of Holy Week are frightening. Alarming and frightening for adults, confusing and frightening for children. Our beloved Jesus is now mocked and harmed by the same crowds that once followed him. Even if we don't completely understand (much less can explain) why Jesus suffered and died for our sins, we know Jesus turned to God for help and comfort in time of distress. And we know that God transformed great evil into greater good.

So, talk about Holy Week with your children. Read the Bible stories (Mark 14-16). And don't be discouraged if you can't answer all the questions. Jesus struggled for answers. You can affirm the faithfulness of God at all times, and that God's goodness defeated our brokenness.

In shared ministry,

Music Notes from Ingrid
Dear Families,

Over the past month, in all of our choirs, we have shared our thoughts about why we sing in church, and how singing makes us feel.  The responses have been overwhelming.

"We sing in church so God can be in our hearts."
"We sing in church because it makes us and other people feel happy. Also, it changes people."
"Singing makes me feel calm, at peace, and part of something bigger that I can never understand, but I go along and trust that it is good."

Be on the lookout for responses from all of our choirs on the Great Wall in April!

Upcoming Dates
  • Regular Wednesday rehearsals resume April 11.
  • Carol Choir and Choir 345 will sing on Sunday, May 6, at 9:15 AM with The Middle School Choir and Handbell Ensemble.
We have a role for you in our 2018 Chancel Drama!
