New Scholarship for Texas A&M Cybersecurity Students
National CyberWatch member Texas A&M University received a $4.4 million grant from the National Science Foundation to go toward students studying in the university’s Cybersecurity Center. Select students will receive full tuition, fees, books, a development fund and stipend. Recipients must then work in a government agency for same amount of time that they participated in the program.

National CyberWatch Partnership
The National CyberWatch Center and The International Consortium of Minority Cybersecurity Professionals partnered to address the shortage of highly skilled women and minorities in the cybersecurity sector. With minorities lacking in this field, the two groups are aiming to further educate, encourage and retain these groups to enhance the employee pool.

MU Hosted Cyber Day for High School Students
The Marshall University (MU) Digital Forensics and Information Assurance Program hosted its ninth annual Cyber Day. The one-day event hosted local students in ninth through 12 grades to experience interactive and hands-on activities while learning about cybercrime, cybersecurity and digital forensics. MU is a National CyberWatch member.

The Gulf Coast is becoming one of the country’s premier locations for cybersecurity training. Industry leaders, including a representative from the University of West Florida, a National CyberWatch member, were featured at the Washington D.C. Cyber Roundtable to discuss the Gulf’s progress as a hub for cybersecurity talent, innovation and opportunity.

Finding a Holistic Approach to Cyber Resilience
The Coalition to Reduce Cyber Risk (CR2) released a white paper on “Cybersecurity Policy for Resilient Economies: A Global, Cross-Sector Approach.” This paper outlines the processes crucial to developing effective global and cross sectoral cybersecurity policies and approaches based on lessons learned by industry.
