Cybersecurity Virtual Career Fair
What is the best way to expose students to a plethora of internships and job opportunities? The Centers of Academic Excellence Cybersecurity Virtual Career Fair on Oct. 13, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. PT. During this free event, employers will be able to showcase their companies with virtual booths and presentations while also having access to all submitted student resumes. Even in this virtual environment, students will have one-on-one communications with potential employers.

Losing the Privacy War Webinar
Join Dr. Margaret Leary, CIPP/G and professor at Northern Virginia Community College, as she discusses the recent Equifax breach during a National CyberWatch Center webinar on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2-3 p.m. Dr. Leary will look at the relationship of online public records accessed by data aggregators (such as Equifax), potential negative impacts of a Federal Breach Notification Law and recommendations for individuals to protect their identity.

Robert Morris University Launches Cyber Center
Watch out for Robert Morris University in the cybersecurity and mobile forensics field. This National CyberWatch member just launched their Center for Cyber Research and Training, which will offer customized training workshops on maintaining network security and deterring and detecting unauthorized access as well as techniques for gathering evidence from mobile devices. For this work, Robert Morris was named Cyber School of the Future by Paraben Corporation, one of the two top Mobile Forensics companies in the world.

Radford University’s Unique Cybersecurity Program
Already with a nationally recognized cybersecurity program in tow, Radford University in Virginia unveiled a new cybersecurity program to increase enrollment and build partnerships. This National CyberWatch member modeled the program on competency-based education, which will focus on teaching specific job-related skills required to perform tasks in the real world. This is a skills-based and certification-earning model.

Beta Testers Needed for Cloud Computing
Trident Technical College is looking for a few good education and industry partners to help Beta test Cloud computing labs developed as part of the Creating Learning Opportunities for Undergraduates in Developing Technologies (CLOUDTech) NSF grant. Organizations can either have access to all nine modules and labs or test implementing the labs in a stand alone class environment. Learn about what’s involved in the grant.

Curriculum Standards Panel Seeking Members
To assure that institutions of higher learning are offering the best in cybersecurity education, the National CyberWatch Center is looking for individuals to become members of its Curriculum Standards Panel. Panelists will ultimately produce the nation’s first competency-based, mastery learning curriculum design for an information security fundamentals course that aligns with a number of industry models. They also will be credited as authors.

Federal Tech/Cyber Hiring & Recruitment Event
Come one and all to the Office of Management and Budget’s Federal Tech/Cyber Hiring and Recruiting event on Nov. 6 and 7 in Silver Spring, Maryland. The first-ever government IT and cybersecurity federal hiring event will feature more than 20 federal agencies including the FBI, CIA, NSA, and NGA working together to recruit, interview and hire hundreds of qualified candidates. National Cyber League Closes Registration at All-Time Record High
Once registration closed on Wednesday, Oct. 4, NCL had 3,464 registrants for the Fall Season—a record high. The NCL prides itself on its virtual gym training for aspiring cybersecurity professionals. This training is put on display during the Fall and later Spring seasons. This record number of registrants demonstrates the appeal of the NCL game challenges, access to the Gymnasium as well as individualized Scouting Reports.
