A greater demand in IT has created more degree programs at Western Governors University (WGU) Nevada, in particular, a new one in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance, within the past year. The online university and National CyberWatch Center member provides working adults with an affordable way to earn degrees while also making sure its College of IT is well known to the Nevada business community.

Lewis University Ranked No. 6 for Cybersecurity Masters
Lewis University just earned a No. 6 ranking for Best Online Masters in Cybersecurity by CyberSecurityDegrees.com. The National CyberWatch Center member university offers a Master of Science in Computer Science with a concentration in Cybersecurity online. All online masters in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance were surveyed and ranked based on Academic Quality, Affordability/Return on Investment and Student Satisfaction.

Northern Virginia Community College Partners With NSA 
Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), a National CyberWatch Center academic member, is collaborating with the National Security Agency (NSA) to close the large gap of open Cybersecurity positions that is only forecasted to increase. Just like many other higher education institutions around the country, NOVA is developing Cybersecurity programs the meet guidelines and standards established by the NSA and Department of Homeland Security.

Triton College Touts New Cybersecurity Program
With demand for Cybersecurity professionals at an all-time high, Triton College’s Cybersecurity program is putting students on the right track to a successful future. The National CyberWatch Center academic member college began offering a Cybersecurity and Information Assurance certificate in 2016, which includes designing and implementing secure IT infrastructure, assessing a network’s technical vulnerabilities and identifying and responding to network attacks.

U.S. Rep Bob Latta Talks Cybersecurity at Northwest State
National CyberWatch member Northwest State Community College has a new cybersecurity program set to begin this fall. With an expected shortage of about two million cybersecurity professionals by 2019, the college’s program is highly anticipated. U.S. Representative Bob Latta recently visited the college to learn more about the program and how it could help alleviate the personnel shortage and ultimately prevent cybercrime damage.

Delta College Hosting STEM Summit
Come this October, National CyberWatch academic member Delta College will host the Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Summit. This event will include a regional STEM update, spur future plans for STEM education initiatives in the Great Lakes Bay region, Computer Science/coding panel, breakout sessions and more. The keynote speaker is Gerald Solomon, Executive Director of the Samueli Foundation.

Herzing University is the newest member of the National CyberWatch Center consortium. The National CyberWatch Center brought together higher education institutions, businesses and government agencies to collaborate on advancing cybersecurity education while strengthening the national cybersecurity workforce. Workshop on How to Become a CAE/CAE2Y

With the National CyberWatch Center's move to a new online membership software service, a few things need to be tested before pushing it live. National CyberWatch is looking for 10 current member schools to help test the online member portal. You can be among the first to see the application and learn how your institution’s full-time and adjunct faculty can be registered as National CyberWatch members.
