Kentucky Girls STEM Collaborative Conference

At this conference participants will learn how to inform and motivate girls and adults on the rewards and benefits of a STEM career. The conference will also include "STEM Olympics - Go for the Gold", hands-on STEM activities.

Oregon Girls Collaborative Project Girls in STEM Forum

Attendees will learn about NGCP resources for engaging girls in STEM, hear from students sharing their STEM experiences and interests, and learn strategies for engaging girls in STEM.

SciGirls Training: Greater Capital Region Teacher Center

Schenectady, NY; June 30, 2015; 8:30 AM-3:00 PM

At this professional development workshop participants will learn how to re-shape current lesson plans to engage a wide variety of learners and use media in the classroom. Participants will also explore circuits using play dough and engage in other hands-on science activities aligned to New York State Learning Standards.

Meet Bethann, Process & Package Development Manager at The J.M. Smucker Company. She manages a team of engineers that specialize in process development and packaging design. She is also involved with the Society of Women Engineers and the Women in Engineering Program at The University of Akron.

 

Bethann is a 2015 STEP Award Honoree. The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Production (STEP) Ahead initiative honors and promotes the role of women in the manufacturing industry through recognition, research, and leadership. Visit Bethann's profile to learn more.

This month is a good time to explore your local zoo and aquarium. The Association of Zoos and Aquariums provides a collection of links. Many of the websites have educational resources such as videos, wild life facts, lesson plans, and activities.

NCWIT's Latinas & Tecnolog??a de la Informaci?n Website

NCWIT's Latinas & Tecnolog?a de la Informaci?n is a Spanish website for inspiring young Latina women to pursue technology. The website provides fact sheets for creating awareness about the current state of girls' participation in technology, talking points about undergraduate courses and careers in computing, videos and profiles of Latina women for addressing the attractions to technology and possible barriers in the field, as well as links to computing activities and recruitment programs.

 

New Report on Women in Engineering and Computing  

Solving the Equation: The Variables for Women's Success in Engineering and Computing, a new research report by AAUW, asks why there are still so few women in the critical fields of engineering and computing. The report explains what we can do to make these fields open to and desirable for all employees. A PowerPoint presentation and fact sheet are also available.

World Oceans Day
