As Time Goes By
What a happy ball of fur you are, a wiggling Newfie with that puppy butt sway.
As time goes by, you grow too fast, how do I freeze this moment for eternity? How do I make you stay this way?
Your legs are getting longer, I found a puppy tooth on the floor, it's inevitable you're growing up and will be a puppy soon no more.
As time goes by I don't seem to mind the changes, you're learning so much and growing in all directions, we're a team now making that Newfie / Human connection.
We go and do whether a walk or training, the sofa for lovin or playing inside cause it's raining.
As time goes by deeper the place you have in my heart, my life, you're a member of my family like a husband or wife.
It comes again that desire to make time stand still, it's the grey in your muzzle, the slack in your step, how did this happen, you grew old while I slept.
As time goes by I see my Senior at my side, the constant companion, the stoic rock I've leaned upon.
As time goes by, it does fly. I would not trade this many years but still too few, not for one minute, one minute I've spent with you.
