National Walking Month Challenge!
More than 80% of American adults do not get enough physical activity.

121 Fitness Center challenges you to make your health a priority this month with our National Walking Month Challenge! We want you to walk at least 10,000 steps per day, or 70,000 steps per week! Think you can do it? Then sign up for the month long challenge!


What’s in it for me?
  • If you walk 10,000 steps per day, or 70,000 steps per week, then you will be entered in our weekly raffle drawing, which will include prizes like free smoothies, water bottles, lunch boxes, and more!
  • During our FINALE CHALLENGE, which will take place during the last week of April, you will be challenged to walk 13,000 steps per day. If you achieve this, you will be entered to win our FINALE prize raffle!
  • On Thursday, April 13th, from 5-6pm, UH Physical Therapist, Julie Drew, will be providing a FREE talk on proper footwear, dynamic warm ups, and more. RSVP here!
  • It is recommended that we complete 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise each week. However, with this challenge, we want you to get in 10,000 steps (approximately 5 miles) of walking, running, biking, dance, etc. everyday. This is a great way to hold yourself accountable.

So, how does this work?

  • You will need to provide your own pedometer for the challenge. You can use your FitBit (or similar), cell phone, or pedometer to track your own steps.
  • Any exercise that gets you moving will help! Walk, run, elliptical, or bike your way to 10,000 steps!
  • You will be provided a printable template (via email) to help keep track of your daily steps.
  • You will also need to email [email protected] by 9am every Monday morning with your DAILY + WEEKLY TOTAL step count from the previous week for a chance to be entered in our drawings.
  • Please provide a good email address, as this will be the main point of contact.
  • The challenge will begin on Monday, April 3rd, and will run through Sunday, April 30th.
  • Every Monday during the month of April, you will receive a weekly email with motivation to get in your steps, tips on how to be more active, and we will announce the previous week’s raffle winner!
