June 10, 2016
Dear Readers,

We welcomed a good majority of our newest members and their guests with a lovely reception hosted by GM, Jeff and his remarkable team at the Cactus Club on Banks Road on Wednesday evening.

Steph's Sweet Delights, a new member herself, provided us with some sweeties. Another new member, Curtis from 50th Parallel Estate Winery provided some outstanding vintages. What a treat!

The Cactus Club - Banks Road very generously donated a private-tasting Chef's dinner for 6. The very lucky recipient was Bruce Tanner from Interior Savings Credit Union.

Do you know of a business that is not yet a member? Please refer them to us and we will reward you.....

Women to Watch is back!
Nominate an influential woman

The Women to Watch is a program led by the Kelowna Chamber Women's Leadership Network and sponsored by Crowe MacKay, that celebrates and recognizes influential women leaders throughout the Okanagan. By showcasing women in leadership positions, our goal is to help foster and encourage the next generation of female leaders.  Women to Watch are featured in weekly publications of  Kelowna Capital News  and  KelownaNow .

If you know an influential woman whose story could encourage the next generation of emerging leaders, we want to hear about them!

Call to Bring the Scotties back to the Okanagan

With the 2016 PGA Tour in our backyard this weekend, the Okanagan and its stunning scenery are being highlighted on a national level. Let's keep that momentum going; we have an opportunity to bid on the Scotties Tournament of Hearts 2018.

It wouldn't be the first time the tournament was here; however it's safe to say that our region has seen much change since the Scotties were held in Kelowna, back in 1989.

"We need to rally together as a community to bring
one of Curling Canada's premier events, the Scotties Tournament of Hearts,   to Penticton in January of 2018", exclaimed Kelly Scott, Canadian competitive curler.

"We urge curling fans to help us collect 1000 deposits of $100 each on full event tickets for the 2018 Scotties Tournament of Hearts prior to this June 20, 2016". The $100 is fully refundable if Penticton is not successful in its bid.

The Scotties is estimated to provide between $6 million and $12 million dollars worth of economic benefit to the area at a time of year, (January 27-February 4, 2018), when it is needed most. There will be 500-600 athletes, coaches, media plus families and fans flying to the Kelowna Airport, visiting shops and eating at restaurants.
