Reminder:  OPPI Needs You to
Contact Your MPP

Thank you to the almost 100 OPPI members who have contacted their MPPs to spread the word about Bill 122!

This is a significant accomplishment by OPPI members, and we must continue the effort to ensure our voices are heard. We need your help to renew and strengthen the vital legislation that supports professional planners and protects the public interest in Ontario.

I am writing to you again today to ask you if you have not done so already to take action to contact your Member of Provincial Parliament in response to OPPI's legislation to enhance the regulation of the planning profession. Make a difference by either placing a phone call or sending an email to your MPP.

First Reading was given on April 12th for the Registered Professional Planners Act, 2017, and is scheduled for Second Reading by MPP Peter Milczyn on May 11, 2017. This legislation, if passed, will raise further awareness about the importance of planning and the role of the planning profession in creating and fostering healthy communities - putting the public interest first.

The time is now for the legislation that regulates professional planners in Ontario to be brought up-to-date.

It is imperative that as a Registered Professional Planner your voice is heard on the importance of this Bill being passed. Your call or email today can make a difference for professional planners across Ontario and the communities we serve. Here is what you need to do:
  • Visit the  Professional Regulation webpage to review materials related to Bill 122
  • Use this handy Contact an MPP tool for phone numbers and email addresses
  • Call your local constituency office to book a meeting with your MPP
  • Let MPP Peter Milczyn know that you support his Bill
  • Can't go to a meeting? Send an email!
  • Review the Key Messages prior to your meeting or use these when sending an email
  • Let OPPI know know by May 11th that you have contacted your MPP (include the name of your MPP) or MPP Peter Milczyn

Every voice counts. It's planners like you - professional, accountable, collaborative and progressive - who, through meaningful activities such as this, will advance, in the public interest, planning and the planning profession in this Province .

We are OPPI. Be involved.
