2013 Summer Camps
We're thrilled to announce the following list of summer camps being offered during summer 2013 at Roberson Museum and Science Center.  Registration is required for camp participation. Please visit www.roberson.org or call (607) 772-0660 to register.  Please note that camps require a minimum number of participants, and are subject to change. Tuition is non-refundable.  All materials included.  Tuition is $172 for members, $215 for non-members ** Except July 1-5 camp.**  
All Camps run daily from 9:00am-3:00pm.

Recycled Art 

Monday through Friday, June 24-28 Grades 3 - 7

Adventure Week

Monday through Friday, July 1-5 (No camp July 4) Grades 3 - 7

Sign up for Beginner Pottery Courses
Summer 2013 Clayworks
Roberson Clayworks is accepting registrations now for our two Beginner Pottery Courses this summer. We are also offering a Beginner Pottery 2 course. Classes are available to senior high school students and up.  

What you'll experience:
  Roberson Clayworks Beginner Pottery students will build a solid foundation in wheel throwing and the basics of hand building.  Class is geared for the student with no clay experience or for those who have taken a class and would like to continue to improve their skills. The entire ceramic process will be covered, including glazing and firing techniques.  Students benefit from taking this class more than once.


NO previous clay experience is necessary


Beginner Pottery 2: 
Being offered Tuesday nights, this class is for the student who would like to continue working on and improving their clay skills.  More advanced shaping and throwing techniques will be explored.  Previous experience is required. Must be comfortable centering clay and be able to throw a 5 inch cylinder.



Cost for the courses: $208 for Roberson Members, $253 for non-members.  Students will receive 25 pounds of clay as part of the cost of class.  The cost of class also includes studio time outside of class and all firings, glazes.

On Stage: "Broadway in the Ballroom"
SRO Productions continues their series of the best Broadway has to offer year by year.  Join us May 18, 2013 at 7:30pm in the Mansion Ballroom - The year:  2003.  The evening includes music from Wicked, Avenue Q, Urban Cowboy, The Boy from Oz, The Look of Love & Taboo.  Tickets are $20 and include beverage, hors' d'oeuvre plate and the show.

ON VIEW: BCC Student Art Exhiibition 
BCC Art Show

Roberson is hosting the 2013 Broome Community College Student Art Exhibition, which is on view now.  The exhibition was planned, organized and mounted by students from the Exhibition Class at Broome Community College and consists of works produced by the student body. It is the first to show art from the new Visual Communications Degree at BCC, and features a variety of pieces representing the range of individual visions and voices of the college community.

Be an Inventor: 
Saturday June 8, 10am to 3pm
All Scouts, and non-scouts
Spend the day at Roberson Museum and Science Center and learn how to use Science, Technology, Engineering and Math to invent! Scouts will explore various products, learn about the invention process, and make inventions of their own.

  Inventor patch  is included for Brownies, Product Deisgner patch is included for Juniors, fun patches are available for all other girls.  Girls are responsible for their own lunch and snack.
$10/girl $8/adult (leaders free within ratio)

 No matter the weather or time of year, there's always an incredible view of the stars and planets from inside our new Digital Planetarium. 


From astronomy topics to monsters of the deep sea and rockin' laser shows, the new digital software provides fun, reliable and flexible educational programs for school audiences, afterschool programs, summer camps and significantly enhances the visitor experience.
