As I imagined, our shows for the Seeds & Stories Tour are evolving. Ramblin' Jack's shows are always unique and I hear something new each time. And I've added Scott Nygaard on guitar and harmonies, and Victoria Blythe on fiddle, viola, and harmonies for a new sound. And inspired by Jack, we've added some special twists and surprises. I hope you can join us for one of the upcoming shows!

Flashback: Duo with Garrison Keillor
It was April 3, 2011 and my friend Cary Sheldon and I got to spend the day on the set of A Prairie Home Companion, reprising the DeZurik Sisters' yodels for Garrison Keillor. He also asked me to sing my original Woe is Me, and he joined me (singing the voice of God :-), and the wonderful Fred Newman added sound effects! Click on the photo above to watch the video!

VIDEO CONTEST & PRIZE: Friends Near the Gulf of MexicoI am using some video in my performances as background visual and audio for some songs. We use Nell's Busy Bees under my song The Gardener. I am seeking similar video for my song I Hear a Southwind. Best video will be awarded a $150 prize and credit on my Youtube channel. *Must be high quality, 3 minutes. I'd like the Gulf of Mexico. No people audible or visible; just the sunny Gulf surf. Email me for more information.

My Winter Reading List I am crazy about good fiction and writing, have been an avid reader since a kid. Here are my favorite books so far this Winter, topped by:
Cat's Cradle by Michael Ondaatje - LOVED this one, each page is pure poetry, it inspired a song. So did this one: Snow Hunters by Paul Yoon (tree metaphors and imagery still haunting me). Then in no particular order:
Someone by Alice McDermott (love her characters). A Place in Time by Wendell Berry (reminds me of my own roots) In One Person by John Irving (love the fluid view of gender identity) The Dog Stars by Peter Heller (powerful end-of-world story) Ransom by David Malouf (poetic imagination of the meeting of Priam and Achilles) The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri (from India to Rhode Island) TransAtlantic by Colum McCann (characters woven through time) If On A Winters Night by Italo Calvino (whimsy) The Childhood of Jesus by J.M. Coetzee (not what it sounds like)
