Energy Assistance Program - Applications are now being accepted for the Department of Social Services Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Now t
hrough Monday, November 14, individuals may apply for fuel assistance at all local departments of social services or online.
Prescription Assistance - Residents of Newport News who have no health insurance or traditional pharmacy benefit plan, or have prescriptions not covered by insurance, can now receive assistance. The City of Newport News, in collaboration with The National League of Cities, is offering a FREE Prescription Discount Card program to help citizens save money on the high cost of prescription medications. Free Ride to the Polls! - Yellow Cab will give senior citizens free rides to the polls November 8 in Hampton and Newport News.The offer is open to any registered voter over 60 who doesn't' have their own
transportation to the polls.
Those interested should call the Peninsula Agency on Aging at (757) 873-0541 by November 7th. The agency will ask for a telephone number, pickup address, voting location and requested pickup time.
