Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital is hosting a seminar focused on metabolism and weight loss. The program will educate on how metabolism and obesity can impact your overall health, as well as highlight the different programs within the Bon Secours Weight Loss Institute. Education on surgical weight loss, nutrition and diet facts and best practices, medical weight loss, exercise and physical therapy options as well as patient testimonials will be among the topics for the program. Senior Community Services Employment Program
The Peninsula Agency on Aging Williamsburg office has partnered with the AARP Foundation to place low income individuals, age 55 or over, in part-time, temporary positions intended to provide people that training and work experience they need to obtain unsubsidized employment. Program participants, who are placed at local non-profits and government agencies, work 18 hours per week and earn $7.25 per hour. They are currently recruiting program participants who must be residents of York County, James City County, Poquoson or Williamsburg. To learn more, call

Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast is currently accepting nominations for their annual Girl Scout Famous Formers recognition, honoring women in the community who have distinguished themselves as outstanding role models for girls and women through individual excellence and high levels of achievement in their professional activities and volunteer efforts. Nomination forms can be found on the Alumnae webpage at www.gsccc.org. The deadline is June 30.
