EF IN THE WORLD
EF to Foster a New Generation of Leaders

In response to interest from Fellows around the world, Eisenhower Fellowships will launch a new program aimed at youth aged 18 to 25 years to complement its existing network of 1,500 dynamic, mid-career change agents. The Eisenhower Youth Leaders Network will deepen EF’s commitment to mentorship and support efforts to cultivate the next generation of leaders. Read more here.

A Historic Journey: 2016 Africa Program
From  meeting President Barack Obama to participating in post-election events following the tumultuous presidential campaign, Eisenhower Fellowships' Africa Program Fellows witnessed a pivotal time in U.S. history, while making history themselves as participants in the first all-African Program in EF's 63-year history. EF and Pardee Rand University Forge New Partnership

Eight Africa Fellows connected with Pardee Rand's faculty, subject-matter experts and researchers in the fields of economic development, education, health and infrastructure planning. This novel immersion curriculum was aimed at building capacity and sharing knowledge to help shape and implement fellowship projects upon returning home. Read more here.

EF Day of Fellowship 2016
October 14 marks the annual EF Day of Fellowship. In 2016 Fellows all over the world celebrated with conferences, seminars and gatherings to honor the day. Read more here.
Fellows Gather in Seoul

The Eisenhower Fellows of Korea welcomed EF’s Senior Director of the Global Fellows Network, Diane Shoemaker, newly selected 2017 Korean Fellow, Kyungsang Yu, Senior Vice President, SK Planet and visiting Brazilian Fellow, Fernando Koch ’16 to a banquet dinner in Seoul in early November. Paula Bennett (New Zealand '10) Becomes Deputy Prime Minister
Before reaching her country's second highest post, Bennett was the most senior woman in New Zealand's government – ranked fifth in cabinet and with oversight for 75 percent of the government's annual spending and its entire entire civil service. Elected to Parliament in 2005, Paula Bennett was appointed a Minister of the Crown in 2008. Of Maori descent, she has a particular interest in the rights and needs of marginalized and impoverished communities.  Watch Bennett speak about her historic rise here.

EF Fellows Panel @ SXSW in 2017
Eisenhower Fellowships is set to take the stage in Austin, Texas, this March at the 2017 South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference. While many Eisenhower Fellows have attended the well-known conferences and festivals and hosted their own sessions, this is the first time that EF will use this platform to share word of its programs and impact.  “Last Sunday, I had the opportunity to experience the sort of awe that doesn’t come around enough in our lives. Nestled in the vast landscape of rural Brumadinho, Brazil is Inhotim. I don’t even know where to begin,” writes Kelly Pollock (USA ’16) in one of several entries on her blog chronicling her EF Journey.
A Family-Less Society
Vanessa Foster-Cooksey (USA '16) shares insights from her EF Journey through Japan: "More people are living longer and living alone. This has significant national and human security implications that must be addressed by government and industry. This shift from "blood relations" to "community relations" will create an opportunity for (1) people to have new perspectives about living arrangements, (2) increased intergenerational communication and (3) new policies for social welfare systems that allow people to live with dignity across their entire lifespan."  Read more here.

"Our corporate visit to Tencent covered a wide array of topics and a sneak peak at plans for their new HQ. HAX and Tianan Cyber Park offered us hands on introductions and chats with member entrepreneurs and their investors.Side trips included an awards festival for filmmakers, karaoke and shopping in tech production storefronts," writes Jack Bienko (USA '16) on his journey as a Zhi-Xing Eisenhower Fellow in China. Read the full post here.

Goodbyes

EF congratulates Marilyn Hasheian on her retirement after 25 years of service.  Marilyn worked alongside four EF Presidents, Dorie Friend, Adrian Basora, John Wolf, and George de Lama and with our Board of Trustees.  Our front desk receptionists Arleen Pajic and Joyce Crane will also be retiring after 20 years of warmly greeting Eisenhower Fellows at the front door of the EF House.  We are grateful for their contributions to mission of Eisenhower Fellowships.
