iPads Donated to New American Families

February, 2016 - Burlington, Vermont - As a part of the Parent University program, all graduates received an iPad donated to them by the Burlington Technology Department's Paul Irish. Technology for Tomorrow partnered with Parent University to provided the graduates with training on their new iPads.  During the training sessions each graduate set up their iPad, accessed wifi, created their own email account, and learned how to access the Burlington School District's website www.bsdvt.org.

Program Manager of Technology for Tomorrow, Carly Stine ran the hour and a half training workshops.  The workshops were structured to be teachable with and without the assistance of an interpreter.  The workshops relied heavily on one-on-one work with a PowerPoint running in the background providing visual reference.

At the end of three days, 22 Parent University graduates underwent the training and proudly took their new iPads home.  Ali Dieng, Program Manager of Parent University said of the workshops: "It was a great privilege working with Technology for Tomorrow...Parents were really happy to get the training and understanding technology better.  We are looking forward to more technology workshops at the next Parent University session that will start in April."

Technology for Tomorrow will be joining up with Parent University again this session. The session, which starts in April, will include classes covering nutrition, personal and home finance, teen health and adult health, English, and a tech series taught by Technology for Tomorrow.
