NEW ARTISTS AT THE GALLERY . . . |
MOLLY O'ROURKE, BROOKLIN, ME
THE GALLERY GIVES A WARM WELCOME TO MOLLY O'ROURKE: Raised in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Molly earned a BFA from Pratt Institute, with an emphasis on figure drawing and intaglio printmaking. Molly moved to Maine in 1980. Following the move, Molly had a successful career as a graphic designer and soon ran her own studio, Looseleaf Studio. In September 2005, feeling the need to rekindle her connection with fine arts, she concentrated on working in watercolor, and joined two plein-air painting groups. Molly lives in Brooklin with her husband Paul on Naskeag Point. |
JOSEPH KEIFFER, NEW YORK, NY
THE GALLERY ALSO GIVES A WARM WELCOME TO JOSEPH KEIFFER:
Joe Keiffer was born in 1952. His father was a painter and his mother was a writer, which enabled the family to spend quite a few years abroad, mainly in Europe. He began painting at 17, while in Paris. The following year he enrolled at Brandeis, and after several leaves of absence to attend the New York Studio School, he graduated from college, having majored in philosophy and art history. Following a year at Sotheby's "Works of Art" course, he was employed by Sotheby's as a cataloguer and appraiser of paintings, and after six years there and three years at Doyle Galleries, he became president of a non-profit art foundation. In his thirties, he started painting full time, and for a living. In retrospect, he says that he learned more about the history of art from his years in the art trade than he did in college, and that he learned more about painting by looking at reality than from anything taught in art school. |
ADDITIONAL ARTISTS AND CRAFTSMEN . . . |
KAREN GOLA, GOLA GLASS, SANFORD, ME THE GALLERY IS VERY PLEASED TO ADD GOLA GLASS to display in the Sunroom. Karen Gola was born in Pittsburgh, PA, the historic center of glassmaking for North America. She has been deeply interested in art glass since childhood and has been creating beautiful works of glass for over 30 years. Karen is proud of her Czech heritage, a land where world renowned glass art has been created since the Middle Ages. Karen's work is in private collections across the United States. She is a member of the Maine Craft Association and the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, America's oldest juried craft organization. Her work is also collected in Great Britain, France and Canada. |
JEWELRY BY LILLY MILLER, MARLBORO, ME
THE GALLERY IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE LILLY'S ARRIVAL and to display her fine jewelry. Tourmaline, fresh water pearls, semi-precious stones and sea glass sparkle in the curio cabinet at The Gallery. Lilly's fine jewelry is beautifully made and carefully designed to appeal to anyone who is looking for that perfect necklace, bracelet or even a pair of dangly earings to dress up that casual outfit. |
SCULPTORS, RUSS KAUFMAN, MILBRIDGE, ME AND ROGER BRIGNULL, BAR HARBOR, ME
THE GALLERY WELCOMES two sculptors to its collection of fine artists. Russ Kaufman is an accomplished sculptor and lives in Milbridge. Russ provides world class stone carving for artists, brokers, and private clients. His works of art range from Granite to marble to bronze. He will custom design the perfect sculture for your home or business. Stop by and see his latest creation on the front lawn of The Gallery. An 11 foot high, granite eagle, with a wing span of 9 feet wide. This sculpture is actaully a fire place mantle, though can be purchased as a large sculpture for any setting. Roger Brignull is living in Bar Harbor and had formal instruction in bronze sculpting with James Frederick Woell of Deer Isle. Roger works in both precious metal clay and the lost wax process of casting bronze. Most of Roger's work is inspirational and depicts the "angel" as its common theme. |
