We look forward to seeing you very soon in Atlanta!  In this issue of News Brief, you will find what we hope will be helpful information for those of you attending this year's conference.
 
Getting Around Atlanta  includes a fairly extensive list of available modes of transportation both to and from the airport, as well as for getting around the city.  We have also included a few options on downtown parking. 
 
Conference Logistics  contains information on everything from conference accessibility and child care to this year's green initiatives and dining options near the Hilton Atlanta.

For those of you who are brand new to SCMS' annual conference, First Time Attending SCMS? provides some suggestions on helpful items to pack, and how tips to make the most of your experience. 
 
In closing, please note that this month's issue contains a public statement on due process that the SCMS Board of Directors released on March 15, 2016.  The statement is in the wake of several high profile cases that have recently come to light.

ELECTION RESULTS!

Dear SCMS Members, 

The results of the 2016 SCMS elections are in! On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce that Derek Kompare (Southern Methodist University) and Miriam J. Petty (Northwestern University) have been elected to three-year terms on the SCMS Board of Directors. They begin their terms on July 1, 2016.

The proposed Bylaw Change to Article VII. Committees, Caucuses and Scholarly Interest Groups was approved.

Please join the Board in extending deepest thanks to Hect or Amaya and Patrick Vonderau for their willingness to stand for office and for their ongoing service and commitment to the Society for Cinema and Media Studies.

The Board would also like to thank members of the SCMS Nominating Committee for their hard work in developing this excellent slate of candidates: Haidee Wasson (Chair), Elena Gorfinkel, Hollis Griffin, Erik Hedling, Bambi Haggins, Arthur Knight, Mariah Larsson, and Jason Middleton.
