New Cathedral Canons Called

With the blessing and guidance of our bishop and vestry, I am delighted to announce that I have called the Reverend Katie Pearson to serve as canon pastor and the Reverend Broderick Greer to serve as canon.

As canon pastor, Katie oversees pastoral care at Saint John's, including the involvement of more and more of our parishioners who have the gift for gentle, prayerful care. Katie also oversees two other areas, Christian Education and the Welcome Center. Katie has so many gifts, including the fact that she has the heart of a pastor and the mind of a preacher.

Beginning in the middle of October, Broderick will oversee all of our work with young adults, plus oversee liturgy (including the Wilderness) in addition to some focused work with me and with the stewardship committee. Broderick comes to us from Grace-St. Luke's Church & School in Memphis, so I know him well, of course. He is a poignant, prophetic preacher and teacher who loves God's people.

All three of us look forward to getting to know Saint John's in the weeks, months, and years to come. Last but not least, thanks be to God.

-The Very Reverend Richard Lawson
