IHCD's New England ADA Center Awarded Another Five Years!
New England ADA Center The New England Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Center, a project of the Institute for Human Centered Design (IHCD), is pleased to announce that it has received five-years of funding from the Administration for Community Living. 

This means that, along with our state affiliate partners in CT, ME, MA, NH, RI and VT, we will continue to provide information, guidance and training on the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Crotched Mountain New Hampshire This two-day, in-depth, field-oriented workshop will provide information about the Federal Trail Accessibility Guidelines, along with an overview of the techniques and skills needed to build sustainable hiking trails that provide enjoyment for all. 


Alpha One to Host Independence Matters Youth with Disabilities Transition Fair October 15 at the University of Southern Maine
Independence Matters Maine Youth Transition Fair Alpha One is hosting its first Independence Matters Transition Fair, a f ull-day program targeting high school youth to young adults with disabilities 
and their families preparing to successfully transition to college, career,  and the community. 


Massachusetts Office on Disability (MOD) Goes "On the Road" in Western Mass
Mass Office on Disability MOD is the state affiliate to the New England ADA Center.  This past July, staff traveled to Western Massachusetts to hold a series of trainings and outreach activities.

McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA Reaches Settlement Agreement
McLean Hospital McLean Hospital reached a settlement agreement with the Department of Justice arising from violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). All residences at a three-story town house where McLean provides services were on a second floor, and were not accessible. Under the agreement, McLean will provide alternative, off-site accessible housing to patients whose mobility related disability prevents them from using stairs.

Participate in an Online Survey on Transportation Access and Experiences
ADA PARC The ADA Participation Action Research Consortium (ADA-PARC) invites you to participate in a national survey on Transportation Access and Experiences, designed to improve understanding of accessibility of public transportation for people with disabilities. The results will serve as crucial evidence to support improvements to accessible transportation. 


Marlee Matlin's New Video on Deaf and Police Interaction
Actress Marlee MatlinAs the wife of  a law officer, Actress Marlee Matlin knows about police culture and deaf culture, and she has released a video with recommendations designed to make deaf and police interactions more safe and effective.
