Message from Executive Director Christie Brown

At ReSource, we've been trying over the past year to bring additional opportunities to you, our nonprofit members, to support your work and fulfill our mission to "build stronger nonprofits."

I'm thrilled to be involved in helping Brackets for Good launch a new fundraiser which is fun, benefits many charities with one event and returns all donations to participating agencies. Learn more in the article below about how you can register for "Fundraising Madness"!

Also in this issue, we are helping you to plan ahead for your holiday gift drives by suggesting that you browse discounted items available from Good360. We are also considering an option to highlight certain "wish list" items on our website and Facebook posts, promoting individual donors to "buy" (i.e. donate) discounted items that will be directed to the requesting agency. Email me to learn more.

I also want to explain our public sale on September 17. We are very serious about not adding to the landfill, but what can we do when supply exceeds demand? We are experimenting with a first-ever public sale, okayed by our board as a very occasional event. Not everything in our warehouse will be offered at the public sale -- only items that have been already advertised to our membership, but have not sold. Our hope is that this public sale will give us more space for new donations, and will provide income to help cover our overhead in order to keep administrative fees low. This may be a boon or a bust -- we will see how successful it is next Saturday!

Thank you for your partnership,

Christie Brown

Brackets for Good - Apply to be part of Cincinnati's "Fundraising Madness"

ReSource is excited to announce that we've partnered with Brackets For Good to help bring this fundraising tournament to Cincinnati for the first time in March of 2017.

What is Brackets For Good?
Picture the annual college basketball tournament. Now, replace the teams with local nonprofits grouped by organization size, and change the competition to fundraising where online match-ups are one week long and $1 donated = 1 point.  Nonprofits advance through the single elimination tournament by scoring more points than their opponent (raising more money) and the winning organization receives an additional $10,000 unrestricted donation from the tournament's presenting sponsor, Bingham Greenebaum and Doll.

Why should your organization participate?
In addition to the fun of a friendly competition, Brackets For Good will provide increased exposure for your nonprofit. Better yet-you keep all of the donations, donor information, and new online marketing resources you receive during tournament play. It's a fun way to tie your organization into all of the attention college basketball receives every March! Last March, $1.4 million was raised by nonprofit organizations in 5 cities, and 30% of the donations they received were from new donors.

How can your organization register?
Visit Brackets for Good  and spend 5 minutes to register by October 28. Brackets for Good will follow-up with more information.

Note from ReSource: We've checked this group out and they are great to work with and there is no "catch" to this. Not all agencies who register will be able to participate because it is limited to 64 entries, and they have a unique screening process to select the agencies who will see the most successful results.

WarehouseSalesReSource Non-Member and Public Warehouse Sale Events

In an effort to promote ReSource membership to more nonprofits, we will have non-member sale days on September 13 and 14. ReSource's full warehouse of goods will be open to any registered 501c3 charity. Payment must be made by agency check or credit card.

Additionally, we will have a public sale on Saturday morning, September 17 of a limited selection of overstocked items and other pieces that have gone unsold for several months. Payment by cash or credit card only (with ID), and all items must be taken at time of sale. No deliveries or later pickups.

This will clear out space for new donations and also provide a source of additional funding which helps keep our admin fees low for members.
