Oral Health 2020: A Vision for Integrated Care is fast approaching. This one-day educational Oral Health Symposium will showcase existing healthcare delivery models that take significant steps toward integration, existing financing efforts that understand the value of oral health integration to improve health outcomes; and explore health profession education models that value and contribute to the integration of oral health into primary care. This Symposium is the venue for healthcare providers to reflect on the knowledge gained and provide recommendations to further advance knowledge and evidence that strengthens efforts to integrate oral health into primary care.
The Symposium will be from 8:00AM - 6:00PM at the Hotel Maya in Long Beach, California on Thursday, November 6, 2014. Registration for Professional Attendees is $159.00 and for Student Attendees $79.00.
Continuing Education Credits for Dental and Nursing Professionals will be provided.

Mary Lee Conicella, DMD, FAGD is Aetna's Chief Dental Officer. In this role she is responsible for building Aetna's position by providing high quality and affordable dental care. Dr. Conicella received her B.S. in Medical Technology from the University of Pittsburgh and her D.M.D. from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1987. She received her Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2000. She is a faculty member of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where she has taught since 1992. She was instrumental in developing Aetna's Dental-Medical Integration initiative and has co-authored several abstracts and articles published in collaboration with Columbia University College of Dental Medicine related to research on the impact dental care has on overall health. Michael Helgeson, DDS is Chief Executive Officer of Apple Tree Dental, an innovative nonprofit organization that operates six programs in Minnesota
with a staff of over 160. Apple Tree's clinics and mobile dental offices create year-round dental homes in collaboration with more than 130 Head Start Centers, schools, group homes, and nursing facilities in both urban and rural areas. Dr. Helgeson's educational background includes completing B.S. and D.D.S. degrees,followed by a two-year post-graduate program in geriatric dentistry, and a mini-MBA program in nonprofit management. Dr. Helgeson has served as past presidents of both the American Society for Geriatric Dentistry and the Special Care Dentistry Association and serves as a member of the American Dental Association's National Elder Care Advisory Committee. Dr. Helgeson has lectured widely, including lectures at the American Dental Association, the National Oral Health Conference, the Mayo Clinic, and at dental schools in the United States and Canada. COH's Clinical Programs Manager, Brooke Bodart, RDH, MPA, will be presenting at the Healthcare Business Summit on October 15, 2014. The Summit's theme is Convergence. Innovation. Invergence: Transitioning from Silos to Unified Healthcare Businesses and Beyond. It will focus on the trends and best practices in the digitalization of business in the healthcare industry and applications across other industries.
The Summit will take place on October 15, 2014 in The L.A. Hotel Downtown from 10:30AM - 2:30PM. Ms. Bodart's presentation will accompany Dr. Anish Mahajan from the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) and Dr. Hal Yee, Chief Medical Officer for the Los Angeles County DHS.
