New Judge Interviews Friday
The 31st Circuit Judicial Commission has released the demographic information relating to applicants for the position of Associate Circuit Judge Division 25.  This is a new position created by the General Assembly.  There are 12 applicants: 6 men and 6 women, 5 presently employed in the private sector and 7 presently employed in the public sector. The applicants' mean age is 47 years. The commission announced that it will conduct public interviews of all applicants Friday March 4, 2016, beginning at 8:30 a.m., at the Missouri Court of Appeals, 300 Hammons Parkway, Third Floor Courtroom, Springfield, Missouri.  The interviewees are:

The commission will select three nominees from the applicants interviewed for the governor's consideration. Governor Jay Nixon will have 60 days to appoint one of the three nominees to the position. The members of the Thirty-First Circuit Judicial Commission are: Andrew Bennett, Steve Garner, Steven Stepp, Joann Hosmer and the Honorable Mary W. Sheffield, who serves as Chair.

Invitation to Young Lawyer Gathering
The Young Lawyers Section (YLS) of the Missouri Bar selected Springfield as the location of its 2016 Annual Winter Meeting.  This is the first time Springfield has been chosen as the site for the Winter Meeting in several years.  To celebrate, please come and join the YLS and co-sponsor Hall Ansley, P.C., for an evening happy hour in downtown Springfield on  March 11, 2016 , beginning at  8:30 pm .  The YLS will be reserving a room at Falstaff’s Local (311 Park Central West) and providing a bar tab and drink specials.  ALL local lawyers (regardless of eligibility for inclusion in the YLS) are welcome and encouraged to attend.  For more information contact Adam Pihana.
March CLE Lunch: 
Jason Smith and Derek Ankrom of Spencer Fane will provide an overview of the rules governing class actions and provide examples of potential class action claims that attorneys in general practice may encounter. Additionally, they will discuss the advantages and challenges of the class action mechanism in cases involving consumers.  (information/registration)
