Big Brothers Big Sisters' mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one - to - one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. The program is based on a one - to - one relationship between an adult and child where new experiences help the Little Brother or Little Sister become more self - confident, do better in school and enjoy time with a new friend. These children are exposed to new opportunities and experiences that once seemed out of reach. BBBS volunteers known as Bigs, get together 1 - 3 hours per week in the community with a child. The agency has been serving children in the New London area for some time however now a new recruitment initiative has been created to have 30 matches by the end of 2015. Through partnerships with the New London CHAT teams, New London Chamber, New London United Way and New London school district we will be able to make a difference in more New London children.
