August 2015

Thank you to those who participated in and volunteered at the successful Chamber Golf Outing that took place on Thursday, July 9th, at Shamrock Heights Golf*Eat*Drink*Banquet*Cater.  The weather was awesome and all 109 golfers in attendance had a great time.

We had several lucky raffle winners who left with great prizes.  A big "Thank You" to all our members who donated an item for either the numerous raffles or the outstanding door prizes.

Chamber Ambassador, Julie Hert - Valley VNA Senior Services did a fantastic job of capturing the day in photos.  To view a variety of pictures from the day, go to www.NewLondonChamber.com/Events/GolfOuting. Scroll to the link on the bottom center of the page for a link to the complete photo gallery.

In addition, thank you to James Kelley of Yo DJ Entertainment who provided the outstanding music for the day.

And last, but not least, a big "Thank You" to Corey Feller, Cory Kluge and the staff of Shamrock Heights for assisting us with all of our requests throughout the day always with a smile.

On Saturday, Oct. 17th , Old Glory Honor Flight of Northeast Wisconsin Proudly Presents Operation At Ease '15.  Old Glory Honor Flight of Northeast Wisconsin announces an event to recognize and publicly thank the US military veterans of the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. This event, entitled Operation.  At Ease '15, will take place on Saturday, October 17th, 2015 at the Outagamie Regional Airport's FBO facilities.  While Old Glory Honor Flight remains committed to transporting Wisconsin's World War II and Korean War veterans to Washington DC, this special event will be different.  For Operation At Ease '15, Old Glory Honor Flight will transport veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom via motor coach to Marseilles, Illinois to visit the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial (pictured below).  The veterans will return to Outagamie Regional Airport facilities to a welcome home celebration featuring a concert by the nationally-known band Madison Rising and the public is invited to attend.

"Old Glory Honor Flight has always been driven by the motto that 'it is never too late to say thank you,' but that doesn't mean we have to wait decades to show the warriors of today that we appreciate their service" said Old Glory Honor Flight President, Drew MacDonald. "We have seen firsthand the healing power of the Vietnam Wall in Washington DC and we are hopeful that the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial will provide the same benefits for our OEF and OIF vets."  This is a special event with a separate application process.  Interested veterans may go to www.oldgloryhonorflight.org to secure an application. Corporate partners are encouraged to contact Old Glory honor Flight to discuss sponsorship opportunities.  Old Glory Honor Flight also invites other veteran-centered non-profit organizations to participate in Operation at Ease.  They may contact us at operationatease@gmail.com

Wireless Tips for Emergency Preparedness
Today we have more ways to speak with one another than ever before. We are used to staying in touch with cell phones, Internet and email, but disasters can change things. The devices we rely on may not be available. Cell phone towers can become overloaded with people trying to reach friends and family. If the power is out at your home, cordless phones, Internet and email may not work either.  See More...

Addiction Knows No Boundaries
Lets face it, each and every one of us is affected by addiction in one way or another. If not personally, then a family member, friend, co-worker, classmate or even someone as far-fetched as a sisters boyfriends cousin. Somehow, some way, you or someone you know is struggling, or worse, the struggle has taken their life.   See More...
