Thank you to those who participated in and volunteered at the successful Chamber Golf Outing that took place on Thursday, July 10th, at Shamrock Heights Golf*Eat*Drink*Banquet*Cater.  The weather was awesome and all 118 golfers in attendance had a great time.

We had several lucky raffle winners who left with great prizes.  A big "Thank You" to all our members who donated an item for either the numerous raffles or the outstanding door prizes.

Chamber Ambassador, Julie Hert - Valley VNA Senior Services did a fantastic job of capturing the day in photos.  To view a variety of pictures from the day, go to www.NewLondonChamber.com/Events/GolfOuting. Scroll to the link on the bottom center of the page for a link to the complete photo gallery.

In addition, thank you to James Kelley of Yo DJ Entertainment who provided the outstanding music for the day.

And last, but not least, a big "Thank You" to Corey Feller, Cory Kluge and the staff of Shamrock Heights for assisting us with all of our requests throughout the day always with a smile.

Hair Stylist Volunteers Needed
Hair Stylist volunteers are needed to help with Mission of Hope on Saturday, August 23rd, for 2 - 4 hours between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Bernegger River Walk, New London.  We will be giving free hair cuts (no shampoo or styling) to families struggling with the most basic of needs.  Families coming to the event also receive free groceries, family portraits, shoes, lunch, community resources and more.  Receiving a free hair cut is very important and something many of us take for granted.  We are hoping you can volunteer your talent as a licensed hair stylist at this event and make a difference in someone's life.  After the hair cut they also receive simple makeup if they want and then are all set for a family portrait. Please call Amy at (920) 757-0694 if you can help or want more info.

Donation box at Chamber Office
A box for shoes has been placed in the Chamber office for donations of new shoes and socks of all sizes for the Third Annual Mission of Hope - New London on August 23rd.

Mission of Hope was inspired by Brooke Prahl, a 2012 graduate of New London High School. After volunteering at Convoy of Hope (a national outreach) in Appleton, she brought the event to New London.

For the past two years, Mission of Hope has utilized volunteers from churches and the community to offer our neighbors a hand up in groceries, shoes, portraits, haircuts, and a large variety of services.

For more details or questions, consult the website at www.mission-of-hope.com or call Lori Prahl at (920) 359-0705.

Honoring our service men and women, the 6th Annual Fehlberg Memorial Veteran's Ride, which was held on Saturday, June 14th in New London, has donated $25,500.00 to local veterans' charities.

In its sixth year, this 164 mile motorcycle ride included 249 registered bikes with 360 participants.   The bikers left the Water's Supper Club in New London and traveled a scenic route throughout Waupaca County making stops in the town of Cecil on the shore of Shawano Lake and at Bear Lake Campground in Manawa. The ride ended at Bean City just outside of New London.

The ride was created to honor and raise funds for local veterans. The dedicated committee works throughout the year planning this annual event.

The committee was proud to present the following checks; $19,500.00 to Old Glory Honor Flights of NE Wisconsin, $2,000.00 to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 53 and $2,000.00 to the VFW Relief Fund Post # 2732 and $2,000.00 to the Norris Spencer American Legion Post 263.

The committee would like to thank all of the behind the scenes volunteers, the New London Police and Fire Departments and the many sponsors that made the event possible.

New London Public Museum Announces
A Flock of Save the Birds Sponsors
Numerous Birds to be Restored

The New London Public Museum announces a flock of Save the Birds sponsors! Faye Wohlrabe and Dan Froding decided to sponsor the Pileated Woodpecker, Brenda Hansen chose the female Blue Wing Teal Duck and the New London Women's Club decided on the pair of Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks. With their donations, NLPM will be able to have these four birds cleaned and preserved. With these sponsorships, the museum celebrates nine birds sponsored in 2014! We hope to have ten birds sponsored by the end of the summer, doubling our yearly goal!

Charles Carr, the founder of the museum, collected the Grosbeaks and the Teal in the late 1880s; unfortunately, the museum isn't sure who collected the Pileated Woodpecker. All of these birds have been at the museum for a long time and with these generous donations they will stay here for years and years to come.  See More...
