For years joint efforts of the New London Area Chamber of Commerce and the New London Tourism Commission have resulted in a summer concert series in Taft Park.  The park is located at 400 N. Water St. adjoining the Wolf River.

Initially the concerts had been held the third Thursday in June, July and August.  In 2014 the Tourism Commission is excited to announce they are planning to expand the series by holding a concert every Thursday in the months of June, July and August.

Mission of Hope was inspired by Brooke Prahl, a 2012 graduate of New London High School. After volunteering at Convoy of Hope (a national outreach) in Appleton, she brought the event to New London.

For the past two years, Mission of Hope has utilized volunteers from churches and the community to offer our neighbors a hand up in groceries, shoes, portraits, haircuts, and a large variety of services.

For more details or questions, consult the website at www.mission-of-hope.com or call Lori Prahl at (920) 359-0705.

Clients at local food pantries will receive more fresh produce, thanks to a donation from ThedaCare's Community Health Action Team, or CHAT.

As part of the Healthier Foods in Food Pantry Initiative that stemmed from the New London Plunge into Obesity, the New London CHAT approved $3,500 to purchase refrigerators for the food pantries of Waupaca, New London, Weymont, Manawa and Clintonville. The Meat Block Expands

When Phil Schmidt opened The Meat Block four years ago in Greenville, he was guided by a passion for meat and had 18 years of experience at Haen Meats in Kaukauna as his foundation.

In the next few years, besides developing a good following and knack for running his own butcher shop, he expanded his footprint twice at N1739 Lily of the Valley Dr. He added a second smokehouse, a wine room, more coolers and grilling equipment. His larger licensed commercial kitchen will be ready next week for his catering and wholesale operations. Altogether, it's now more than 7,000 square feet.  See More...

First Bird of 2014 Sponsored

Roadrunner to be Restored

The New London Public Museum announces the first Save the Birds sponsor in 2014! Myrl and Laurie Olson decided to sponsor the museum's one and only Roadrunner. With their donation, NLPM will be able to have this bird cleaned and preserved. Charles Carr, the founder of the museum, collected the Roadrunner in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1887. The roadrunner has been at the museum for almost 100 years. Cleaning old bird mounts is the most difficult aspect of taxidermy restoration.  See More...

EXCITING BIRD SPONSORSHIP

Passenger Pigeons to be restored

The New London Public Museum's Passenger Pigeons are being restored! Our newest sponsors, Al, Jennifer and Ben Grumann chose the museum's male and female passenger pigeons. The Grumann's donated the money to the Friends of the New London Public Museum and asked for a matching donation from the Bemis Company, through their Employee Gift Matching Program. With their donation and the matching funds, both birds can be cleaned and preserved. This restoration is especially important as we honor the 100th Anniversary of the passenger pigeon's extinction. The last passenger pigeon died in captivity in 1914.  See More...

Whether you would like to take the family without paying for the gas and dealing with the stress of driving or you want to send the kids off for a day of supervised fun the price is right for these trips! A car / booster seat is required for any child under 4 years old or under 40 pounds. Please let the Recreation Department know 2 weeks in advance if you are in need of a booster seat or if you are planning on bringing one so we can let the bus company know.
