On Tuesday, Oct. 11th, the New London Chamber of Commerce is holding their monthly educational opportunity entitled, "Coming Home for a Visit - Promoting Your Brand on Social Media During the Holidays", from 7:30 - 9 a.m. at St. Joseph Chapel (please park on road).

The holidays are busy - and when it comes to social media, they're noisy as well. Everyone has something to promote about their business during the holiday seasons. This workshop will help you create some strategies for promoting your brand during the holiday season. 

 
This class will be presented by Rose Fields with Social Web Dzine.  Rose is offering a FREE social media review for your businesses to prepare for the workshops.

Please be sure to attend this exciting educational and networking opportunity for Chamber members.  On the third Wednesday of each month from 8 - 9:15 a.m. join the Chamber in the St. Joseph Residence Chapel (please park on the road) for our monthly business briefing / networking session.  

 

St. Joseph Residence will provide coffee and snacks for each session. Come join us and learn what's happening with the Chamber and each other.  Each of you will be given the opportunity to introduce yourself and your business and share something about your business that you want others to know.  Use this opportunity to promote and educate yourself with the offerings of other Chamber members.  In addition, we encourage you to invite either an existing Chamber Member, a prospective Chamber Member or a public service person to the meeting. We will have a great prize drawing and a lot of networking opportunities.

 

A monthly reminder will be sent out to everyone on our distribution lists on Monday the week of the sessions.  If you are not on our listing and would like to be added let us know.  We hope you can join us! The Forward New London group is proud to introduce "The Wolf River Market Place".  It is an outdoor shopping experience located in Bucky's Restaurant parking lot.  The Market Place will be open weekly on Saturdays, from June 4th through Oct. 29th from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.  The market is open to produce vendors, flea market vendors, artists, antiques, non-profits, cottage industries, small businesses etc.  The cost is $5.00 per Saturday or $25.00 for six weeks.  To register or to get more information please call Rita at (920) 810-4480.

New owners for Anytime Fitness
Couple from Hortonville, New London 
Two familiar locals are the new owners of Anytime Fitness in New London.

Bob and Geri Guyette, owners of the Black Otter Supper Club in Hortonville since 2003, took over the gym Aug. 5. Bob is a 1992 Hortonville High School grad and Geri is a 1995 New London High School grad.

The gym was previously owned by Katie and Wade Wisnefske and Chris and Kimberly Polanco.  See More...

Encryption is the key to keeping your personal information secure online. Encryption scrambles the information you send over the internet into a code so it's not accessible to others. When you're using wireless networks, it's best to send personal information only if it's encrypted, either by an encrypted website or a secure Wi-Fi network. An encrypted website protects only the information you send to and from that site. A secure wireless network encrypts all the information you send using that network.  See More... 
   
CAP Services welcomes fresh faces to leadership team
    
CAP Services added new staff recently. Jason Rickstad was named CAP's Deputy Chief Financial Officer and Mary Alice Priebe is CAP's new Assistant Director of Human Resources. Both are based out of CAP's Stevens Point corporate headquarters.
 
Rickstad supports CAP's Chief Financial Officer Susan Henry in the management of the agency's financial functions. His responsibilities include leadership in CAP's financial operations, 401K, compliance and procurement.
 
"We're very pleased to have Jason join us at CAP," said Henry. "His experience and background will help us continue the track record of responsible financial management that has made us a go-to agency for mission-oriented funders."
 
Rickstad's previous experience includes senior accounting positions with Graebel Moving and Workplace Solutions, Saturn of Eau Claire, and Fleming Companies. He holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
 
Priebe is responsible for administering and supervising human resource programs within CAP.
 
"Priebe is the perfect addition to our human resources team," said Rebecca Lerol, CAP's director of talent. "Her background, which includes human resources, insurance and years of management and training experience, will be an asset to our agency and its employees as we continue our important work."
 
Priebe's professional experience includes management and supervisory positions with OptumRX, Security Health Plan, WPS Insurance, and Metlife Financial Services. She holds a bachelor's degree in Business Management and a master's degree in Business Administration - Human Resources, both from Upper Iowa University.

HARRY POTTER FANS!
NLPM needs your help
The New London Public Museum needs Harry Potter fans! In November, the museum will host "Harry Potter's World: Renaissance Science, Magic, and Medicine" a traveling exhibit developed and produced by the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health. As part of the exhibit we are asking our community to loan memorabilia, collectibles and items from the world of Harry Potter! The items need to be at the museum by November 7, items will not be accepted after that date. You can drop them off Monday - Friday 10a.m. - 5 p.m. or Saturday 10 a.m. - 1p.m.
 
Are you a fan of the books, movies, theme parks of Harry Potter and the wonderful world J.K. Rowling created? Do you have wands, robes, ties, scarves, games, cups, mugs, or anything else (except books) related to the Harry Potter franchise? We'd love to include them in our exhibit.
October Vintage Movie Canceled
It is with great regret that the New London Public Museum and the Grand Cinema Theater announce the cancellation of the October Vintage Movie. However, we hope you will join us on Saturday, December 10 for "Christmas in Connecticut". This 1945 movie stars Barbara Stanwyck as a food writer who lies about being a model housewife. Comedy ensues when her boss invites himself and a returning war hero to a traditional family Christmas dinner at her house.
