The New London Parks and Recreation Department is once again offering you a way to get your work out in before you start sampling all of the yummy cheese and sausages available at the Chamber of Commerce Annual Downtown event!
The Run / Walk starts at the Bernegger River Walk on Saturday, September 10th at 8:30 a.m. and proceeds to finish at the River Trail, south west of the Shawano St. Bridge, by the NL flower bed. Registration for the event is available online at www.newlondonwi.org, by calling the office at (920) 982-8521 or by stopping by our office, or mailing in a form to 215 N. Shawano St. New London, WI 54961. Registration is $15 per person until August 29, after that it will go up to $20 and t-shirts will be available on a first come first serve basis at that time as well, so register asap! A long-sleeve t-shirt, post-race refreshments and a participant's medal is included in the 5K Run / Walk registration fee.

E-mail marketing can be a simple, effective and affordable way to stay in touch with your customer or potential customers. This workshop will focus on 7 steps to launching your email marketing campaign.
 
This class will be presented by Rose Fields with Social Web Dzine.  Rose is offering a FREE social media review for your businesses to prepare for the workshops.

Please be sure to attend this exciting educational and networking opportunity for Chamber members.  On the third Wednesday of each month from 8 - 9:15 a.m. join the Chamber in the St. Joseph Residence Chapel (please park on the road) for our monthly business briefing / networking session.  

 

St. Joseph Residence will provide coffee and snacks for each session. Come join us and learn what's happening with the Chamber and each other.  Each of you will be given the opportunity to introduce yourself and your business and share something about your business that you want others to know.  Use this opportunity to promote and educate yourself with the offerings of other Chamber members.  In addition, we encourage you to invite either an existing Chamber Member, a prospective Chamber Member or a public service person to the meeting. We will have a great prize drawing and a lot of networking opportunities.

The Forward New London group is proud to introduce "The Wolf River Market Place".  It is an outdoor shopping experience located in Bucky's Restaurant parking lot.  The Market Place will be open weekly on Saturdays, from June 4th through Oct. 29th from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.  The market is open to produce vendors, flea market vendors, artists, antiques, non-profits, cottage industries, small businesses etc.  The cost is $5.00 per Saturday or $25.00 for six weeks.  To register or to get more information please call Rita at (920) 810-4480.

CAP Services names new Director of Talent
Rebecca Lerol, Town of Knowlton, has been named CAP Services' new Director of Talent.
 
Lerol is based out of CAP's Stevens Point corporate headquarters and is responsible for oversight of CAP's human resources and talent development functions.
 
"Rebecca is a wonderful addition to our team," said Mary Patoka, CAP president and CEO. "Her diverse professional background, which includes human resources as well as nonprofit and direct service experience, has prepared her well for this role with our agency."
 
Lerol's work experience includes five years in human resource and managerial roles at Pro Staff and Nature's Pathways in Appleton, and the Bush Foundation and Robert Half International in St. Paul, Minn. Additionally, Lerol has two years' experience as a bilingual community case worker for Portico Healthnet in St. Paul. Prior to that, she spent a summer in Iowa doing pesticide safety training for migrant farm workers and assisting with migrant farmworker health clinics.
 
Lerol holds a bachelor's degree in Spanish Language from Iowa State University and studied global environmental health at the graduate level at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. She is certified in Personal and Workplace Leadership by Fox Valley Technical College. Lerol also served in an elected role on the Basic Needs Giving Partnership with the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, which directs funding to programs aimed at addressing the root causes of poverty in the Fox Valley region.
First State Bank to Acquire
Farmers and Merchants Bank in Rudolph
First State Bancshares, Inc., parent company of First State Bank, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Rudolph Bancshares, parent company of Farmers and Merchants Bank in Rudolph, Wisconsin.
 
Pending regulatory approval, the purchase is expected to close by the end of this year. First State Bancshares, Inc. will acquire 100% of the outstanding common stock of Rudolph Bancshares, Inc. Farmers and Merchants Bank will subsequently merge with First State Bank and operate under the First State Bank name.
 
Bob Van Asten, president and CEO of First State Bank, stated, "Like Farmers and Merchants Bank, we've enjoyed great success in serving families and businesses in rural communities. We look forward to working with the Rudolph staff to make this transition as seamless as possible for customers and to capitalize on our mutually strong community bank philosophy."
 
"Our two organizations share a common philosophy and approach as community banks," said Jim Judd, president of Farmers and Merchants Bank. "I think this is a real positive for our customers, employees, and community. We are excited for the new opportunities we will have to serve our customers with expanded products and services, while continuing to support our local Rudolph community."
 
Edelman & Co., Ltd. served as financial advisor for First State Bank on the transaction. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
