The need for a highly skilled manufacturing workforce formed the foundation for New Century Careers and the
MANUFACTURING 2000 (M2K) program, which provides students with tuition-free machinist training and job placement assistance.

Tom was unemployed, but his previous work experiences sparked an interest in manufacturing and led him to New Century Careers. In November, he enrolled in M2K.
When asked what aspect of the program he found most beneficial, Tom answered the shop work and people.
"The instructors were great to work wit
h," Tom sa
id. "They stick to the curriculum and answer students' questions in depth. M2K is a great program that helps people in need of training."
Upon completion of M2K, Tom received a job offer from Allegheny Plastics, where he started in April. Tom looks forward to building his skill set and advancing his career.

NCC Board of Directors Spotlight

Elected to the New Century Careers Board in 2011,
John Dransart
is serving his second 5-year term. In 2012, he was appointed to the Finance Committee and currently serves on the Audit and Financial Sustainability Committee.
As the Controller for Penn State Tool and Die Corporation (PST&D), John guides the company's financial decisions. He’s worked for PST&D in various capacities since 1982. Previously, John was employed by Deluzio & Co. and served with the United States Air Force.
PST&D has supported NCC's mission for many years as a manufacturing partner company, hiring M2K graduates and supporting apprentices through the NTMA Apprenticeship Program. John serves on the NTMA Apprenticeship Steering Committee, a program managed for the NTMA by NCC.
Recently, John secured a highly valued compressor from PST&D for NCC’s Training Innovation Center. Thank you, John!
