Dear parents, gymnasts, coaches and families,

Hi!  We are Nicole and Simon Kay and we recently took over ownership of Evolution Gymnastics Aurora.  We would like to introduce ourselves and tell you a little about what will be happening in the coming month.

First, an introduction. Nicole has been in the gymnastics business for 20+ years. She has a long successful gymnastics history, having competed at Provincial levels before becoming a gymnastics coach as well as a Certified Personal Trainer.

I was born in York, England and grew up playing Rugby at the Junior National level and then for the University of Western Ontario. I have been a Certified Personal Trainer for 25 years and have been involved in gymnastics for 12 years.

Nicole and I met at North York General Hospital where Nicole was the IT Helpdesk Coordinator and I am the Senior Network Engineer and Head of Network Security. We were married in 2007 and had a beautiful daughter, Elyse, in 2010. We have been living in Aurora for the past 15 years and are very proud of the close knit community that the town has become. We intend to continue to foster this sense of community in our club and we will try to always be available for questions, comments and suggestions.

Personally EGA has immense importance to me. When I Ieft my last coaching job I was unsure if I would be able to continue to coach or if I would ever find another position at a club. During my darkest coaching hours, Sarah took a chance on me and gave me the chance I had always hoped would come along, to coach at the highest levels at a place where I really felt like I made a difference. As time has passed, Nicole has once again started coaching and has the amazing and challenging opportunity to coach Elyse as she continues to enjoy the sport we all love. Just the same way Nicole did as a child, Elyse cartwheels around the house at every opportunity and is just as excited as we are to be taking over the gym.

Nicole and I have coached together on and off for the last 12 years. We are both NCCP certified Coaches. Nicole is Level 2 certified for Women's and Men's Gymnastics and Trampoline while I am Level 3 certified for Women's and Men's Gymnastics and Level 2 Trampoline. I currently coach the Women's Provincial athletes and Nicole is coaching the Advanced Recreational program. It has been a lifelong dream for Nicole to own her own Gymnastics club and for me, my dream was always to open a gym of some sort of my own. Growing up playing rugby I never dreamt that it would be a gymnastics gym, but having coached this sport and seeing firsthand what it takes, I have an endless respect and admiration for any athlete that take on this most demanding of sports. We can't begin to express how excited we are that we are finally able to move forwards with our passion of training kids in a sport we love.

As the holiday season approaches and Winter session registration opens we are going to try to do some things a little differently. There will be PA Day camps in place for the coming sessions and a Winter Break camp during the holidays so keep your eyes out for the EGA emails and Facebook posts to keep up to date.  As our community grows, we strive to maintain a quality ratio of coaches to athletes, so in all of our programs, spots are limited.

We would also like to introduce our staff to you. We will be posting biographies of all of our coaches with photos so you can be familiar with who is working with your children. We would like everyone who is involved in our club to feel welcome and a part of a growing community of gymnasts and active families who are committed to health and well being.

Please drop by the office and say hello. It will take some time to get to know everyone, but we can't wait to start this exciting adventure!
