Improving Clinical Practice with Patients who have Opioid Use Disorder: Performance-in-Practice Activity

We have exciting news! PCSS clinical experts have created a new Performance-in-Practice (PIP) activity that will help you identify and address gaps in your practice treating patients with opioid use disorder (OUD).

You will say "I did the PIP." Together, we can make a difference!
This activity will assist physicians, physician assistants, nurses and nurse practitioners to determine individual practice gaps and address them through a performance improvement plan designed to improve competence, performance, and patient outcomes.

Educational Objectives of this Activity

As a result of participating in this activity, learners will:

  • Identify 1 of 10 Clinical Quality Measures to improve
  • Develop a quality improvement plan
  • Implement the quality improvement plan
  • Review 5 charts of patients with OUD, 90 days after the implementation of the improvement plan
  • Assess their degree of clinical practice change.

Change Intended: As a result of this program, learners will determine individual practice gaps and address them through a performance improvement plan designed to improve competence, performance, and patient outcomes.

In support of improving patient care, American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
 
In 2019, AAAP also added accreditation from the American Academy of PAs (AAPA), American Psychological Association (APA) and Association for Social Work Boards (ASWB).

American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry is an approved provider of nursing continuing education through AAAP's Joint Accreditation provider #4008192. This program is approved for up to 20 Nursing Contact Hours.

PA Accreditation

PAs may claim a maximum of 20 Category 1 credits for completing this activity. NCCPA accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society.
 
MOC Fulfillment American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
 
This activity will fulfill the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) Part 4 Performance in Practice (PIP) requirement for Maintenance of Certification (MOC), mandating that diplomates complete quality improvement programs designed to improve practice over the MOC cycle. The approval period is for August 9, 2019 to August 9, 2022. All steps must be completed for participants to receive PIP (Part IV) credit.
