Holiday Lights Parade Nov. 24 in Williston

The public is invited to the Holiday Lights Parade and Lighting of Harmon Park on Friday, Nov. 24 in Williston.
The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce will present the 23rd Annual Holiday Lights Parade on Friday, Nov. 24 at 6 p.m. along Main Street in Downtown Williston. Following the parade, the holiday lights at Harmon Park will be turned on by Williston Parks & Recreation Department. FedEx, Real Deals celebrate Ribbon Cuttings

FedEx Express and Real Deals on Home Décor celebrated ribbon cuttings at their new locations recently in Williston. FedEx Express is now located at 8923 Oil Ave. The new Ship Center has a spacious lobby and improved shop area. Meanwhile, Real Deals has nearly tripled its retail space at its new location at 2124 2nd Ave. W. The business, owned by Wendy Gendreau, offers a wide selection of home décor, furniture, wall art, floral and clothing in its RD Boutique. The ribbon cuttings were hosted by the Williston Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors.
 
Fresh Palate, Links of North Dakota open on Main Street

Two businesses are celebrating milestones in Downtown Williston this week. Fresh Palate held the grand re-opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at its new location. The retail store has moved from the upper level to street level in the Downtown Plaza. Fresh Palate is located near Cuiginis, Shepherd's Garden and G and G Pharmacy. Meanwhile, the Links of North Dakota has opened a seasonal golf shop in the former Vanity site. The store has golf clubs, apparel, accessories and season passes for your gift giving needs.

Rugby Homes and RVs relocates to former Coates RV Site

Rugby Homes & RV Center has expanded into the former Coates RV location at 321 Gate Avenue in Williston. Owners Gary and Kevin Kirchofner are excited about the opportunity to offer full sales, parts and service to current and potential RV owners. The family owned company based in Rugby, ND has had a satellite lot in Williston for 11 years. "Coates RV was a full fledged dealer and with them leaving, we saw an opportunity to extend what we started in the past," Gary Kirchofner said. Read More 

New Christmas Lights for Downtown Williston; Shop Small Saturday Nov. 25

The Williston Downtowners Association has raised funds for new Christmas decorations. Williston Economic Development 
Christmas Lights will twinkle brightly along Main Street throughout the holiday season this year. Thanks to six very generous donations, the Williston Downtowners Association was able to facilitate the purchase of new lighted holiday decorations on the lampposts on Main Street. Downtown businesses work extra hard to decorate their windows and bring the warmth inside with festive décor throughout stores and the WDA is doing its part by spreading the warmth outside. It wasn't exactly a traditional Thanksgiving feast. There was a re-telling of the first Thanksgiving, sure, but there was pizza instead of turkey. But no matter what was on the menu, there was plenty of thankfulness to go around. The students in Megan Breeding's first-grade class at Hagan Elementary were thankful for the pizza. Fourth graders from St. Joseph's Catholic Elementary School toured the City of Williston on Tuesday, Nov. 21. The students visited City Hall, the Center for Development and Williston Public Works. The fourth graders told Williston Economic Development executive director Shawn Wenko to recruit a Taco Belle, Panera Bread and Chick-fil-A to Williston.

Williston Basin API honors Biberdorf with Lifetime Achievement Award

His most recent work played a pivotal role in North Dakota's Oil Patch, helping communicate serious needs across a 240-mile divide. Wayne Biberdorf, who was most recently the state's oil impact coordinator, was the Williston Basin Chapter of the American Petroleum Institute's 2017 selection for a Lifetime Achievement award. The honor was presented during the association's annual awards banquet Friday night, along with a host of other awards and recognitions. Rep. Kevin Cramer, who has long been a champion of national energy security, was the event's keynote speaker. Biberdorf, in accepting the award, struck a humble note. Read More

City of Williston Christmas Tree Lighting Nov. 29

The public is invited to the third annual City of Williston Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m. The ceremony will be held at the corner of 26th St. and 2nd Ave. W.  The Tracy Lutz family donated the tree to the City of Williston while Williston Public Works, Borsheim Crane and Basin Trucking cut the tree down, moved it and set it up at its new location.

ND supports Federal Legislature for Online Sales Tax Collections

North Dakota could level the playing field between online retailers and brick and mortar businesses should any federal changes to sales tax collection be made. North Dakota is among several states to have joined South Dakota in pushing for the U.S. Supreme Court to reconsider if retailers should be required to collect sales taxes in a state where they're not physically located. If a court ruling is made or federal law passes, North Dakota is ready to act, the Bismarck Tribune reported. The Legislature passed a measure in its latest session that would permit the tax department to immediately require online retailers to collect sales tax, should federal law change. Read More
