September 26, 2013
Greetings!

After a rather quiet month of September, a rather large shipment of 1/43 and 1/18 scale models from Spark and TSM are on the way. Lots of vintage LeMans Porsches and Matras to choose from but the 1/18 scale Graham Hill STP Lotus 56 Turbine steals the show.

Other highlights include the 2012 LeMans winning #1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro in both 1/18 and 1/87 scale from Spark,  the 1/18 Dakar winning Porsche 959/50 from TSM and 2 versions (1966 Monaco and 1966 Brands Hatch) of Bruce McLaren's first Formula 1 car, the M2B.

You can check out the entire list of 35 new arrivals HERE.

Speaking of Spark, we've just finished a complete inventory of 1/43 scale models (including sale items) and updated and relocated this list to make it easier to find on our Online Shopping website

You'll also find a new list for 1/43 Spark announced for Future Release. Nearly 100 items are listed there so far. More will be added as time permits. If you don't see something that should be there, please let me know. With the sheer volume of 1/43 models on Spark's agenda, their worldwide appeal (and the new, higher cost), your advance orders are more important than ever if we're going to reserve the models you want without limited our purchasing power for other items.

October Release:
The Cars of Trans-Am Racing 1966-1972
by David Tom
Hardbound, 192 pages.
$39.95
The SCCA Trans-Am racing series launched in 1966, and was designed to showcase a new class of sporty domestic cars racing on road courses. In a few short years it became the ultimate American automobile showdown, as each major automotive manufacturer participated heavily in the Trans-Am Series. When the modified muscle cars of the series were seen performing well on the country's finest tracks, fans wanted a model of their own in the driveway.

'The Cars of Trans-Am Racing' is unique in that it focuses on the cars used in this legendary series. These vintage Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers, Barracudas, Firebirds, Cougars and Javelins all have become extremely popular with collectors and enthusiasts today. Reserve HERE

Well, tomorrow is the big day. Nearly 3 years after Director Ron Howard began engaging racing fans on Twitter and Facebook, his film on the epic battle between James Hunt and Niki Lauda for the 1976 Formula One World Championship will open in theatres around the US. Reviews in both the racing and mainstream press have been very encouraging, predicting the film's emphasis on the character study and relationship between the two protagonists will attract more than just race fans to the film. I was privileged to attend an advance screening hosted by film critic Richard Roeper earlier this week. Roeper let it slip that he would be giving 'Rush' 4-stars in his review in the Chicago Sun-Times tomorrow and I would have to say that I agree completely. The film is everything we hoped it would be. The performances by Daniel Bruhl and Chris Hemsworth were exceptional. Bruhl's Lauda is said by many (including Roeper) as perhaps worthy of an Academy Award nomination.

I'm going back to see it with friends tomorrow night. My advise? See it in a theatre with a GREAT sound system and get there early to make sure you get a good seat. Enjoy!

As we discussed earlier this month, several books have been produced and new models announced to enhance your 'Rush' experience. We've also hunted down a few out of print copies of 'Niki Lauda: Meine Story' and 'James Hunt: Against All Odds'. A complete list of 1976 related items can be found below.
