Clergy Community News
What surgeon and parent, when approached by a son or daughter with aspirations to become a surgeon, would hand them a scalpel and send them off to a hospital to practice medicine? There is a reason why Disciples treasure the Bible, spiritual disciplines and a well-rounded theological education when forming its ministers for a lifetime of service. Thank you for contributing to and promoting the Thanksgiving Offering!
Special thanks to Rev. Dr. Gary Peluso Verdend, President of Phillips Theological Seminary for the comparison between preparing surgeopns and forming ministers

This Thanksgiving will be happy for many . . .
. . . for some, particularly First Nations peoples, Thanksgiving is a day of more painful memories. The history taught to most of us - even about that first Thanksgiving - has never been completely honest. There are many articles and books that offer details often left out of our Thanksgiving story telling. One example.

We are blessed in so many ways. May gratitude connect us more deeply with a provident, loving God who is calling the Church to make disciples who will know and tell the whole truth, work to restore divine justice, and love like Jesus.
