Tether Tools

August 2011 Newsletter

Greetings,

This month's newsletter is all about how integrating the iPad into the workflow and how Tether Tools' new product, the iPad Wallee Connect, can help photographers.

With the advent of the iPad, the tech world has been revolutionized by apps and software designed to streamline our lives.  Its impact on the photographer's workflow is paramount.  From model releases, to image capture, processing, editing, and even client presentations and point of sale, the iPad has secured a firm place in the way we work today.

Or maybe it hasn't.  The apps, tools and software are great, but photographers are always on the go and maybe it's just easier to do things the way we've always done.  Where do I mount the iPad?  How can I use it when I'm shooting?  How do I incorporate it into my work so it's where I want it, when I need it?  (You know we wouldn't ask these questions if we didn't have the answer...)

Introducing the Tether Tools Wallee iPad Connect.  The Wallee System is a modular iPad case that offers infinite options for mounting your iPad in ways that work for you.

When we first saw the Wallee System, we had to have it.  And then we thought, if only we could mount it to a tripod or stand.  Oh wait, we make that kind of stuff.  So we made a bracket that works with the Wallee system and the way photographers need it to mount.

Watch the video to see what we came up with and the dozens of uses demonstrated. Then check out the entire Wallee line on our site to see how accessories like the Kick, the Pivot and the Glove can help you take, position and use your iPad anywhere, any way you like!

Q&A with Tether Tools Tips and Advice on Tethered Photography

Q: We get asked all the time "When I'm shooting, how do I incorporate my iPad into the workflow?"  That can mean different things to different photographers, so here we break it down into various answers:

A: Tethering to the iPad:  Apps offer a new dimension to shooting tethered.  Many feature the capability of pushing images from your computer to your iPad where you can instantly sync, rate, tag, edit and share with clients.  Many apps are designed to integrate your iPad with your existing tethering software and each one has unique features.  See some options here.

A: If you'd prefer to go wireless, the Eye-Fi Pro X2 Card is a popular solution for tethered iPad photo shoots.  The Eye-Fi card is actually an SD memory card with a built-in wireless connection that allows you to tell the card where you want your images sent. You can program it to wirelessly transfer images, as you shoot, from your camera to your iPad (or your iPhone, laptop, or other device). There are various cards available, but we recommend the ProX2 for serious shooters using SD format.  Read on for iPad integration and mounting options
