Local Government Elections this year

Voting in the Local Government Elections during October
and November this year is important because it's the best
way you can have your say about what happens in your
local community. To vote in the Local Government Elections you will receive postal voting papers in the mail. If you are new to Australia, you can still vote in the Local Government Elections. You do  not need to be a citizen to be eligible to vote.

As well as voting as an individual, if you own a business or a property within the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, or are part of an organisation or community group within the Council area you may also be eligible to cast a vote for  Ward Councillors within the ward that the business,
property or organisation is based.

New to the area or want to be sure you are
registered to vote? Contact our Customer Relations
team on 8405 6600. The roll closes in August, so
don't miss this the opportunity to have your say

Thanks for getting Green!

We have loved seeing you all get creative and a little grubby at our Get into the Green Scene events these April school holidays. This program was the result of asking you what you want and you've helped to make it one of our most successful themes to date.

We did a range of fun things from getting up close to snakes and owls, launching the Greenacres Library Garden with the newly named Daisy the scarecrow (pictured), planting our own seeds to take home and grow and enjoyed seeing what natural items look like magnified by 60x!  If you share pictures on Facebook don't forget to  tag us @CityofPAELibraries.

As our earth warriors head back to school, we are
already preparing for our July school holiday
program and we'll give you a sneak peek soon.
Staff Profile - Pam

What is your role within the libraries?
I have one of the best roles you could possibly have in our
Libraries - Team Leader of the Events and Marketing Team.

What's the best thing about your job?
I work with and lead a team of highly talented and dedicated people on library events and programs for the Port Adelaide Enfield community. This includes sessions for children, liaison with schools and kindies to arrange visits and programs, book clubs for the avid readers out there, special needs programming, digital literacy programming and of course programming for all the more mature members of the community too!

The best thing is having the opportunity to work on so many different projects from the launch of library gardens that grow flowers and vegetables, to building robots and learning how to use iPads and other digital tools. Each day is a new experience  and a challenge to raise the profile of the library in the  community. I have been very blessed to have spent all my working  life in libraries.

What's your favourite book?
I love gardening and so I often have one or two gardening
books or magazines on the go. Currently I have Sophie  Thomson's Sophie's Patch out to read.  I'm also
reading a book about the art  of Winnie the  Pooh (true story)
having loved the movie  Goodbye Christopher Robin
Favourite book? Hmmm... probably  still Pride and Prejudice
by  Jane Austen.
