Canadian North entered into a codeshare agreement with First Air in July of 2015, with a firm belief that safe, reliable and efficient passenger and cargo transportation is not a luxury for Northerners; it's a vital lifeline, and that as a Northern-owned airline we must be
open to new ways to more efficiently and effectively serve our customers.
The benefits of the codeshare agreement have been genuine and significant, with
numerous schedule enhancements and new operating efficiencies.
We have listened closely to your feedback and made important improvements based on what we have heard
, including adding additional flights between Cambridge Bay and the other Kitikmeot communities as well as moving the Trans-Arctic route back to a preferred Monday - Wednesday - Friday timing.
If there is one constant in the airline industry, it is change. Throughout our history, we have worked hard to adapt decisively to challenges and we have evolved to ensure we meet your needs - and we will continue to do so.
The cancellation of the codeshare agreement by First Air will require us to make changes to our schedule, but our dedication to competitive pricing and exceptional customer service will not change
. We remain firmly committed to meeting the needs of all of our passenger and cargo customers across our entire network.
Looking ahead to new opportunities and a bright, sustainable future
Beginning Monday, January 2, 2017, Canadian North will introduce daily, next generation 737-300 Combi service on our Ottawa ⇄ Iqaluit route
, bringing an early end to the
maintenance-related schedule change
we announced earlier this month. We will use our first 737-300 Combi aircraft on this route until our second 737-300 Combi is ready in March, 2017. Our Mackenzie Valley route will be temporarily served by a full passenger 737-300 during this period.
Since the codeshare agreement remains in effect until May 16, 2017, we are using this time to develop and implement a long-term plan that will enable Canadian North to continue to offer competitive air service to all of our customers across the north, whether in the Qikiqtaaluk, the Kitikmeot or the Northwest Territories. We look forward to launching a new schedule in the coming months that clearly reflects our long-term commitment to the North and will provide you with details as soon as it is finalized.
