Dear friends,

A few weeks ago, we announced a shift in roles for Nate Severson. For twenty-two years, Nate has focused primarily on student ministries at Hillcrest. It is impossible to count the number of students and parents Nate and his wife, Kirsten, have reached in those years.

When we began to think about the role of a Associate Pastor of Community Life, Nate’s experience with a broad range of people at Hillcrest made him an obvious candidate. He will now direct small groups along with a variety of outreach and community oriented initiatives designed to strengthen the social fabric of Hillcrest and the church’s presence in the community.

This does not mean Nate is backing out of Student Ministries entirely. Two ministry directors -- one for middle school and another for high school -- will report to Nate, who will also be giving more hands-on leadership to events like mission trips and big events for students.

We are excited for what God will do with Nate’s expanded influence on the entire congregation.
