April Brookline Newsletter

Dear Brookline Ballet Parents,

We are so excited to welcome back new and returning families to another wonderful Spring session at DanceFIT Studio. Our Spring session begins Thursday, April 6th.

This promises to be another great session for the entire DanceFIT community, and we cannot wait to getting to know you all and showing you what we love the most -  dance!

However, before we can dance....we have some logistics to go over in order to make for an easy and stress free start for your ballet session (please read):

We would like to share with you a few rules of our studio that create the special, warm, comfortable & safe dancing environment for you and our dancers and that make our first few weeks run smooth.  Every dancer and at every level will hear us emphasize ballet and dance etiquette. There is also a  studio etiquette  that extends to our observers as well.

DanceFIT is one of the few studios left in Boston/Brookline that invites parents to watch our ballet classes.  Why?  We take a lot of pride in our curriculum & planning and would like to share it with you.  It is also a fun experience to share with your child.  As a parent myself, I know how special it is to see your child progress, gain confidence, improve and master ballet technique.  We enjoy that you get to observe this beautiful process taking place.  With that being said, we would like to keep this privilege here at DanceFIT and ask you to be considerate of the following:
  • Please arrive ON TIME.  Coming in late is disruptive to the teachers, other dancers, and certainly your own child.  I completely understand that 'life happens' and situations arise that may prevent you from arriving on time, however please make a concerted effort to be on time for everyone's benefit.
  • Please don't converse with other parents during class.  Even though it seems like a whisper it amplifies in our space and is very distracting.
  • Please take all phone conversations out of the studio.
  • Please bring noisy children outside or the playground at the end of the street.  Please do not stay downstairs as it can be disruptive to those working in the offices.
  • Please remove your shoes before entering the studio.
  • Although there may be times when you want to step into the studio space to correct your child's form, please remain in your seat.  We have a variety of teaching techniques to use for hands on corrections and although we correct frequently, we won't be correcting every move a child does.  We want to build their confidence and refine their technique at the appropriate age level; they will get there...but it does require patience and in my experience constant correction leads to frustrated dancers.
  • We are so fortunate to be in the beautiful space at Church of Our Saviour. Please be considerate that this is a shared space and we just rent the top floor. You may quietly use the restrooms downstairs, but please refrain from going in the other rooms. We do not rent them and they are for Church use only.
  • Please do not park in any driveways. Please use street parking or park in metered parking on Beacon Street.

THANK YOU for trusting us with your child as we hope he or she develops a lifelong love of dance! Please join ou private Facebook group  to receive studio updates, see photos from our teachers and meet others in our dance community.

Warmly,
Gina
