DERMfoot - Unlike Any Other
Seminar Experience

By Annette Joyce, DPM
DERMfoot 2017 Meeting Chair

If you are like me, you go to seminars to learn something new. Of course, staying in your office and experiencing CME online can be easier, but it does not stimulate the mind. After years of going to “other” podiatry seminars that focus mainly on surgery, I found DERMfoot to be a completely different experience. First of all, the lecture halls are packed. That’s right- physician attendees enjoy the content so much that they rarely leave the building! Second of all, the faculty is an equal mix of MDs and DPMs. This allows interactive learning and networking with physicians outside of podiatry. This year’s DERMfoot, March 30-April 2, 2017, has an all star line up of some of the most unique and conversation worthy topics in all of podiatric dermatology today. Take a look at just some of our noteworthy lectures and faculty members:

  • Pruritis: Causes and Treatments (G. “Dock” Dockery, DPM)

  • Master Class: Nail Surgery in Europe and Mexico (Daniela Gutierrez, MD)

  • Skin and Nail Dermoscopy Review (Ashfaq Marghoob, MD)

  • Melanoma Surgery (Bryan Markinson, DPM)

  • Venous Disease and the Skin (Jodi Schoenhaus, DPM)

  • Clinical Guidelines for Psoriasis and Atopic Dermatitis (Steven Feldman, MD)

  • Differentiating Infected From Non-Infected Wounds (Warren Joseph, DPM)

  • TLR3 Agonists: Role in Fibrosis and Skin (Shashank Reddy, DPM)

  • Perspectives on Terbinafine: The Iron Clad Study (Maureen Jennings, DPM)

  • Not Onychomycosis?  The Other 50% of Nail Disease (Chris Adigun, MD

  • Current Issues in Treating Skin of Color (Cheryl Burgess, MD)

The Exhibitor Hall has everything a podiatrist could want to know about the latest products and trends in health care of the lower extremity. This year’s vendor hall boasts over 45 booths- and for the 3rd year in a row-it has sold out due to overwhelming interest. As always, DERMfoot sincerely thanks its vendors for supporting the field of podiatric dermatology education. We just couldn’t do this without you. This year, a free dermatoscope (compliments of 3Gen) giveaway is happening again, in addition to a free Keryflex enrollment kit (thanks to The Podiatree Company)

As this year’s Conference Chair, I would like to say thank you to my DERMfoot team. The countless hours of work and dedication it takes to put a 25 hour CME event together is truly remarkable. Dr. Joel Morse, our esteemed Scientific Chair, works tirelessly to bring the best quality education and lecturers from all over the US. He has devoted the last 13 years to this seminar and his love of dermatology shows in his excellent work ethic. Sarah Breymeier, our Executive Marketing Director and Administrator has spent the past year giving 110% to team DERMfoot. Our Planning Committee Member, Dr. Bret Ribotsky, strives to elevate podiatry to the next level in dermatology as he introduces new treatments in aesthetic medicine and practice management pearls that you can use right away. My heartfelt thanks for supporting us on this journey and for joining us for another promising year of DERMfoot in 2017.
