Return To Dresden: The Spiritual Journey of Maria Ritter

9am Sunday, August 14, in the Great Hall

Join The Rev. Canon Jack Lindquist in the Great Hall for this special 9am Forum as he introduces Maria Ritter who in 1945, at the age of three, survived the massive fire-bombing of Dresden. Re-visiting the horror later in life, she struggled with its meaning, loss of her relatives, and collective German national guilt. Dr. Ritter is now a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst in La Jolla. Her book on her spiritual journey is available after the forum.

Pro-LGBT Ugandan Bishop to Visit St. Paul's! - August 21

We are honored to host Bishop Christopher Senyonjo (ret.) from Uganda during his upcoming visit to San Diego. Bishop Senyonjo was expelled from the Church of Uganda for his support of homosexuals and has taken great risks in defense of LGBT people in his country (a nation where lawmakers have considered imposing a death penalty on homosexuals). His visit will be an historic opportunity to hear the personal witness of a courageous man of faith who has proclaimed God's inclusive love and spoken truth to power in Uganda.

Bishop Senyonjo will preach at both morning services next Sunday-and will also be in our 9 am forum-as we welcome the local faith community and those who are working to make the church safe and welcoming for everyone. For more info, contact The Rev. Canon Albert Ogle at aogle@cox.net.

Chanting-Prayer and Breakfast

August 20 (and every third Saturday), Cathedral Chapel, 9:00 am

Lauds is a form of prayer that might be for you. Lauds is a quietly beautiful and peaceful ancient monastic Office (prayer service) sung in the morning. We're using the Lauds and Vespers book, so if you have a copy, bring it along. Come and listen (because it sounds amazing in the chapel) or sing along as the Spirit moves you. Afterward, join us at a nearby eatery for brunch so we can all get to know one another.
