AMAZING
THINGS
HAPPENING AT ST. PHILIP'S
|
|
Our Students are not only gaining knowledge about their own culture, but many others throughout the world. Recently, students learned about the
Chinese New Year with our art teacher Mrs. Kindert. Students created various projects to celebrate the Year of the Rat.
|
|
Our most recent
Saturday Science was geared toward our third-grade students. Our guest scientist was our alum, Tia Flowers. Ms. Flowers assisted Mrs. Barjon with hands-on investigations of health and nutrition. Some examples of labs included: milking cows and making clay models that focused on homogenization, pasteurization, and different types of bacteria.

2020 Census
For the first time ever, you’ll be able to complete your census online! Very soon, you’ll begin to receive information about the 2020 Census, which is critical information for city, state, and federal funding. An accurate Census count will ensure proper resources in our communities for programs such as Medicaid, highway planning, construction, education grants, and so much more. The survey is only 10 questions and takes a few minutes to complete. For more information please visit

St. Philip’s work in
Community Advancement is best described by our Triple A rating: We are an Anchor, an Advocate and an Agent for Change. As a Neighborhood Anchor, St. Philip’s has been transforming lives through effective programs focused on Education, Hunger, Athletics, Senior Services and Youth Development for seven decades. As a Neighborhood Advocate, St. Philip’s convenes monthly community meetings to help ensure our neighbors are informed of important issues and we stand with them to address concerns. As a Neighborhood Change Agent, St. Philip’s accelerates the community’s vision for positive change and invests in neighborhood development initiatives. Our history of impacting people and the environment outside school walls continues to be critical to lasting success and fulfills our purpose of extending God’s Kingdom of hope, light and abundant life.
- The St. Philip’s neighborhood partnered with The Real Estate Council (TREC), with funding provided by JP Morgan, to develop a comprehensive equitable development plan for the neighborhood.
- In January, the St. Philip’s neighborhood was designated a Neighborhood Empowerment Zone (NEZ) alongside six other residential areas in the City of Dallas.
- St. Philip’s applied for and received a grant from the Urban Land Institute (ULI) to host a Technical Assistance Panel (TAP).
