This weekend, there are two exciting performances at the White Plains Performing Arts Center! On Friday, see the hilarious Off-Broadway hit, Girls Night: The Musical. On Saturday, see The Langston Hughes Project, a unique show that combines jazz music, spoken word, and visuals to tell the story of Black Arts in the 1960s.

Called by Marilyn Horne, "A pioneer for his age," Thomas Bagwell is well known as a pianist in song recital and chamber music. His appearances as a collaborative pianist have taken him to New York's Carnegie Hall, London's Wigmore Hall, the Musikverein, the Concertgebouw, and numerous halls across the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Japan. Bagwell has been a participant at the Marlboro Music Festival and has performed recitals with violinists Midori, Miranda Cuckson and Scott St. John, with whom he made a critically acclaimed CD. He plays an all Bach program which includes Three Preludes and Fugues from the Well-Tempered Clavier, the French Suite in G Major, and the Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue. A Downtown Music debut.

The Langston Hughes Project
The Langston Hughes Project is a multimedia concert performance of Langston Hughes's kaleidoscopic jazz poem suite, Ask Your Mama - Hughes's homage in verse and music to the struggle for artistic and social freedom at home and abroad at the beginning of the 1960s. A joyous celebration of music, spoken word and visuals, The Langston Hughes Project is performed by the impressively versatile Dr. Ron McCurdy (as narrator and on trumpet) and his talented group of musicians (on piano, bass and drums) who make heads bob, fingers snap and feet tap throughout. Faces of Burke
Faces of Burke is a traveling photography exhibit conceived to showcase the individuality of the patients treated at Burke every day. Patients with physical and cognitive impairments resulting from stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, cardiac disease, pulmonary disease and orthopedic issues come to Burke to regain their mobility and independence. The compelling photographs in this exhibit will illustrate their experience. Learn more.
