White Plains DPW Launches New Garbage & Recycling Collection App

The White Plains DPW has launched a new app to help keep White Plains residents informed about garbage and recycling collection. Called 'White Plains DPW @ Your Service,' this new app will provide residents with all of the same information they have been receiving for years in a clear, concise, easily accessible, and more personalized way.

Residents will be able to view the garbage and recycling collection schedules specific to their address. Residents will also be able to schedule pick-ups for larger, bulk items and find guidance on how to dispose of items not available for pick up. And if, like many of us, you often forget your pick up days, the app will let you set reminders.

White Plains DPW @ Your Service is available for free download on both the Apple App Store as well as the Google Play Store. Search: White Plains DPW.

Dear Friends and Members,

Have you tried the new dockless bike share bikes yet? LimeBike and ofo bikes can be found throughout the city and used for just $1 a ride, with the first ride free. Remember, White Plains City Law does not allow the riding of bikes on sidewalks. If you rent a bike, please walk the bike to the nearest convenient street access point before riding. When you're finished with your ride, place the bike on the curb, not blocking pedestrians, parking spaces, or building entrances.

Perhaps take a ride with dad this weekend for Father's Day!

See you downtown,
White Plains BID Staff

CUSTOM HEADPIECE FROM BEAD EVERYTHING

Debbie Daum, owner of Bead Everything and certified Graduate Gemologist, created a custom headpiece with matching earrings for Councilwoman Nadine Hunt-Robinson to wear to the Juneteenth Parade & Festival this past Saturday. This year's Grand Marshall was Chicago Bulls player and owner of The Juice Lab, Sean Kilpatrick. Hunt-Robinson was selected to be the "Legacy Award" Honoree.

Regarding the headpiece, Daum said, "she and I spent quite a bit of time figuring out just the right stones & colors." They finally settled on green pearls, bronze seed beads, and antique brass hardware. "I was really honored to make this piece for her."
