Haggerty Museum of Art to Participate in Slow Art Day

Saturday, April 27th

10:00am - 4:30pm

Gallery Talk with Kevin Miyazaki at 1:00pm

This event will feature the site-specific installation Mauka, Makai by Milwaukee photographer Kevin J. Miyazaki. Mauka, Makai is comprised of portraits and views of Lake Michigan from Perimeter, a project commissioned by the Haggerty Museum of Art. For the project, Miyazaki was invited to create new work addressing the topic of fresh water and the Great Lakes. The resulting photographs capture a contemporary portrait of Lake Michigan through images of everyday people whose lives are closest to it. To learn more about the artist and Perimeter, click here. Milwaukee News:

MIAD Recognized by OECD

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris, France has contacted Mt. Auburn and Associates, the consultancy contracted by Creative Alliance and the Greater Milwaukee Committee for the 2010 Milwaukee Regional Creative Industries Project, to write a chapter for a book they are producing on specialized institutions of higher education around the world that promote innovation and entrepreneurship. They've chosen two U.S. colleges, MIAD and Pratt for its programs and their impact on their communities; for MIAD, the relationship to Milwaukee's design cluster and creative economy.
