Creative Alliance Milwaukee Update

August 12, 2011

Greetings!

Today, the Creative Alliance hosted more than a dozen representatives from the creative community for the first meeting of the Creative Education Advisory Council. The Council will be advising the Alliance on enhancing the creativity and innovation capacity of our children by supporting a creative education curriculum. The goal of the council is to deliver an outlined plan for creative education in K-12 schools. Their focus will be to:
  • Creative Educationdefine creative education
  • provide advice to Creative Alliance staff on project components
  • review project deliverables
  • help articulate project outcomes and measures of success
  • be supportive public advocates for the project
The energy in the room was palpable as people introduced themselves, described what brought them to the table, and articulated  their hopes for project outcomes.  As one participant said, "equity [of access to creative education] creates the talent pool." The Council will meet monthly and is expected to complete its work before the end of the year. Stay tuned to the newsletter and website for updates!
