If you missed the event, we have more coming up! The Creative Alliance holds regular "Hub Live" events as a way to bring our website, the Creative Hub, to life. Our next event is a Member Information Session on August 9, 4:30 - 5:30. Open to members and non-members. Come and learn about our initiatives, member benefits and meet some new people in the process!

Have a great weekend,

Activity Update
Watch the Update
Amidst the good food and beer of Hub Live Wednesday evening, Creative Alliance board co-chairs Mike Jones and Jill Morin gave a short activity update. Starting next week, Creative Alliance will be doing some much-needed internal strategic planning to consider our vision and mission in the context of the Creativity Works! study results, and we will configure our board and staff  to best serve the creative community.  We expect to have the planning process completed by the fall.

We have also made creative education a focus for the coming year and are putting in place a unified strategy for our education-related projects. These include the following:
  • Northwestern Mutual Foundation has given us a grant to research and advocate for creative education. This project, led by Christine Harris, will be taking place over the next several months and will involve an advisory group that spans the community. We're working towards an education summit tentatively planned for late fall.
  • We're working on a major upgrade of the Milwaukee Arts Education Directory to make it more visible and accessible. The site currently lists over 200 program offerings by more than 100 artists and organizations.
  • You'll be seeing more in our newsletter about our education strategy, and in September we'll be putting out the first quarterly community update on creative education activities.  We'll be soliciting articles from you a few weeks ahead of time.

If you are interested in more information about Creative Education initiatives, please contact Shirah Apple.

Opportunity for Nonprofits

Forward Community Investments, a nonprofit lender and technical assistance provider for Wisconsin nonprofits, is asking for help in completing a survey. They are looking for insight into how nonprofits weathered 2010 and the first half of 2011.  This is their third annual survey of Wisconsin Nonprofits, in their hope it provides a way to voice concerns, challenges, and needs of nonprofits to the community and help create discussions that identify solutions.  You can download last year's report by clicking here Deadline: Wednesday, July 27.
